HONG KONG - The United States continued its near flawless run with victories over Puerto Rico (28-4) and China (29-1) as the U.S. advances to the playoffs at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women's U20 Championship.
Sophomore Caitlin Barrett tallied one goal against both opponents on Saturday and Sunday. She now owns six goals and an assist for seven points over the championship.
The U.S. is vying with Canada and Australia for the top overall seeds in the playoff bracket, and has one game remaining against Israel on Tuesday.
So far, the United States has given up five goals, while Canada has conceded six to Australia's 16 — after goal differential, which is capped at 12 per game, the next tiebreaker in seeding is goals allowed. Canada's last game is against Korea.
As a Blue Devil rookie, Barrett saw action in 12 games during her rookie campaign as a midfielder. The Manhasset, N.Y., native tallied a career-high four goals against Winthrop (2/18/24) and finished the season with seven goals and two assists for nine points. She also grabbed nine draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls. She was one of 11 ACC student-athletes invited to the camp.
