DURHAM, N.C. -- As the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season hits the Olympic break, it is time for another Duke women's soccer in the pros update. The Blue Devils feature 14 former student-athletes competing in the professional ranks across the world. Eight are playing in the NWSL, while six are overseas. During the Olympic Break, the NWSL gets set to start the NWSL X LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup this weekend.

NWSL
Ella Stevens - #13 NY/NJ Gotham FC (NWSL)
Since joining NJ/NY Gotham FC, in January, Ella Stevens has been one of the squads' key performers. The forward has played in 13 out of 15 matches so far this season and started in eight of her appearances, including her last two games played. Stevens continues to be an offensive weapon for Gotham FC. She has been one of the top scorers on the team, recording five goals and three assists, including two of these assists in her last two matches against Angel City and Seattle. Stevens has scored or assisted in six out of the last eight matches. She scored both
goals for the team and played 86 minutes in Gotham's 2-0 victory against Bay FC on May 24. On May 19, she also netted the
game-winning goal against her former club, the Chicago Red Stars, securing a 2-1 win for Gotham FC. Stevens played a crucial role as well in Gotham's April 28 match against Racing Louisville FC,
assisting on the game-tying goal. Additionally, Stevens has been effective on the defensive end, recording seven tackles and two interceptions so far this season. NY/NJ Gotham FC is having a strong season, sitting in fourth place with a record of 9-3-4. Stevens looks forward to continuing her outstanding season with Gotham after the break.

Quinn - #5 Seattle Reign FC (NWSL)
Since coming back from injury June 16, Quinn has made their presence known. The midfielder has started every match since returning to the pitch. Quinn has been a prominent playmaker for Seattle Reign, earning an accurate passing percentage of 81.0 percent and even earned player of the match in Seattle's June 30 draw against Gotham FC. In other exciting news, Quinn has the honor of representing Canada for the third time at the Paris Olympics. They helped team Canada capture the gold at Tokyo in 2020, and look forward to another chance to secure gold for their home country.
Lily Nabet - #28 Angel City FC (NWSL)
Lily Nabet has appeared in 11 matches so far this season and has started eight of them. The 24-year-old midfielder has proven to be effective on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Nabet is a talented passer, with an impressive passing accuracy of 79.0 percent this season. On the defensive end, she has been strong as well, racking up seven tackles, 10 interceptions and winning 15 headed duels. Nabet recorded three tackles and one interception in Angel City's most recent match against Gotham FC. Angel City is eager to improve her 4-9-3 record after the break.

Tess Boade - #12 Bay FC (NWSL)
Tess Boade has proven to be a crucial contributor to her new club, Bay FC, this season. The 25-year-old forward has played in all 16 matches for the club, starting in all but two. Boade has played the full 90 minutes in nine of those matches as well. Offensively, she has made a significant impact, scoring
three goals and maintaining a 79.0 percent passing accuracy, showcasing her skills as a talented passer and playmaker. She scored the only goal in Bay FC's 1-0 win against Angel City June 22. Additionally, Boade delivered an
assist on the lone goal in Bay FC's 1-0 win against Angel City on March 17. She has made impressive efforts on the defensive side of the ball as well with 22 tackles and nine interceptions so far this year. Bay FC is currently sitting in eighth place, looking to improve its standing after the break.

Michelle Cooper - #17 Kansas City Current (NWSL)
The 2022 Hermann Trophy winner is in her second year with Kansas City Current. Cooper was injured to start the season, but has put up impressive numbers since her return. Since recovering, she has appeared in 13 matches and started her last seven, playing the full 90 in the Current's most recent match against Orlando. Cooper also played the full 90 minutes in Kansas City's 5-2 win against Seattle June 9, recording her
first assist of the season. She recently scored her
first goal of the year as well in the Current's 3-3 draw against Racing Louisville FC May 18. On the defensive end, Cooper has recorded nine tackles won, four interceptions and a striking 20 headed duels won. Kansas City Current is having an outstanding season so far. The Current are ranked second in the league with a 10-1-5 record.
Kansas City will next face the Houston Dash on July 20 at 8 p.m., on Paramount+ and Golazo.
Sophie Jones - #16 Chicago Red Stars (NWSL)
Sophie Jones is living out her dream of playing professional soccer as she continues her second season on the Chicago Red Stars. While she has yet to play in a regular season game in 2024, Jones has been loving her time with the Red Stars, with everything from the practices to the standards and goals the club sets for their players. During her time at Duke, Jones was a two-time All-American and currently ranks fifth in starts on the Duke record books. Chicago is currently in seventh place with a record of 7-7-1.

Imani Dorsey - #28 Utah Royals FC (NWSL)
The Utah Royals' backline is missing Imani Dorsey. Unfortunately, Dorsey suffered a ruptured achilles in the Royals' March 22 win against NC Courage. The 28-year-old defender has been placed on the season-ending injury list, but is working hard to get back healthy. Since sustaining the injury, she underwent successful surgery and has been rehabbing with the Utah Royals medical team. Dorsey was a key member of the backline before her injury. Playing in only two games, she recorded two starts, 134 minutes, and five headed duels won.
Mackenzie Pluck - NY/NJ Gotham FC (NWSL)
After practicing with NY/NJ Gotham FC the entire 2024 campaign so far, 2022 Duke graduate Mackenzie Pluck was signed to a National Team Replacement Player (NTRP) contract with NJ/NY Gotham FC on July 18 and will be available with the team for its match on Saturday, July 20 against the Chicago Red Stars. She played with Angel City FC last year and saw action in six matches. Over her career at Duke, Pluck registered 21 goals and 29 assists in 107 matches. Pluck reunites with former Duke teammate Ella Stevens, who is in her first season with Gotham FC.
Overseas
Mia Gyau - #3 Stade de Reims
Mia Gyau just finished her first season with Stade de Reims in France. The 25-year-old right-back played 10 matches with the club, starting nine of them. During the 2024 season, she recorded an impressive 30 tackles won, seven interceptions, and seven shot blocks. Stade de Reims did well in the Division 1 Feminine this year, making it to the third-place match in the playoffs where the squad lost in penalty kicks to Paris FC. The team ended the season in third place with a 10-5-7 record.
Caitlin Cosme - #16 UF Stjarnan
Caitlin Cosme made a notable debut in her first season with UF Stjarnan, a club based in Garðabær, Iceland. The defender appeared in 11 of the team's 12 matches to open the season, starting and playing the full 90 in every match she played. Not only was Cosme been a key part of the backline, she scored two goals. The team had a 4-7-1 record when the summer window opened up. Cosme decided to leave the squad and will be heading to France to play for FC Nantes starting in September. Cosme was team captain her senior year with the Blue Devils and a 2021 All-American.
Kayla (McCoy) Mckenna - #12 Villarreal CF
Kayla McKenna turned in an outstanding season with Villarreal CF. She played 31 matches for Villareal, averaging 82 minutes per appearance. She totaled an outstanding 11 goals and two assists and was the club's top goal scorer for the 2023-24 season. Villarreal CF finished its season ranked 15th, but look to improve on that for next season. McKenna has also competed with the Jamaican women's national team since 2019. She had a notable career with the Blue Devils as well, playing a total of 57 matches and scoring 30 goals during her time at Duke.
Toni Payne - #11 Sevilla FC
Toni Payne recently completed her season with Sevilla FC, where she played since 2018. This season, she has lit up the pitch, playing in 30 matches, with 23 starts, while racking up
six goals and four assists. Sevilla finished in seventh place in Liga F with a 13-11-5 record. While born in the U.S., Payne proudly represents Nigeria's national team, her parents' home country. She is officially taking her talents to the global stage, representing Nigeria in the Paris Olympics this year. Payne's stellar performances helped Nigeria qualify for the Olympics for the first time since 2008.
Natasha Anasi - #3 SK Brann
Natasha Anasi has had a notable career playing in Europe. She is currently playing for SK Brann in Bergen, Norway. This season she has appeared in five matches and has had two starts, where she has recorded
one goal and averages 1.8 tackles per game. She has also shown her talents as a passer with an 82 percent accurate passing rate this season. Anasi had an outstanding career playing defense for Duke. She was the first Duke player to be a finalist for the Hermann Trophy in 2011, as well as the second player to be a two-time NSCAA All-America.
Anasi also recently competed for the Iceland National Team and helped the squad qualify for Euros 2025.
Dieynaba Ndaw – Senegal National Team
Recent Duke graduate Dieynaba "JJ" Ndaw competed in a pair of friendlys in mid-July with her home country of Senegal. Senegal posted a 1-0 victory over The Republic of Congo in the first match and then won 2-0 in the second. Ndaw made her first start with the squad in the second match. Over the last three seasons, Ndaw saw action in 22 matches with the Blue Devils, before graduating in May.
