DURHAM, N.C. – Duke softball head coach
Marissa Young has rounded out her staff for the 2025 season, adding
Emily Christensen as the program's new director of operations.
"Emily has been a tremendous asset to our program this past year working in a different capacity," said Young. "We are thrilled to have her as our new director of operations and know that her passion to serve, attention to detail and desire to take on creative projects will have a huge impact on our program."
Christensen joined the Duke Athletics Creative Services team in May 2023 as assistant director of graphic design. In that role, she was responsible for designing visually appealing and engaging graphics for Duke Athletics' official social media platforms, aligning with the department's social media strategy. She also conceptualized, designed and produced materials for marketing campaigns, including sport posters, email newsletters and print and digital advertisements.
"I am beyond honored and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside
Marissa Young and her incredible staff," Christensen said. "They are a group of hardworking, supportive and passionate people and have inspired me with their dedication to make Duke softball such a success. It's a huge privilege to have been given this opportunity and I am looking forward to taking strides alongside Coach Young, the coaching and support staff and Team 8 as we head towards continued success in the season ahead."
Prior to Duke, Christensen worked as a creative services assistant in the University of Kentucky Athletics Department, where she designed and prepared artwork that visually supported and promoted the athletics department. She also managed and developed templates for the communications and marketing teams to use in support of social media strategies.
Christensen also previously served as a student marketing assistant and sport media relations intern at Idaho State University, where she created game day graphics for social media posts and produced in-game content, such as halftime score updates and player highlights. Additionally, she led the creation of all "Next Game" graphics for the advertising company, Affinity, and worked with her team to complete tight deadlines. Christensen was also the creative director for the National Student Advertising Competition team at Idaho State University, finalizing all creative components of the final plans book and presentation for the Meta Quest Virtual Reality system. She was also featured in the Idaho State Journal for completing a 53' wall wrap design in the Holt Arena at Idaho State University.
Christensen graduated Magna Cum Laude from Idaho State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication with a design emphasis and a minor in public relations and advertising.
