DURHAM – Duke field hockey head coach
Pam Bustin is excited to announce the 2024 schedule featuring 18 regular-season contests with 10 coming against teams that finished the season ranked in the NFHCA top 20. The Blue Devils will host seven games in Durham.
Schedule Breakdown
The addition of Stanford and California to the ACC schedule pushes Duke's conference games total to eight with four coming at home and four on the road. The Blue Devils travel to take on Cal and Stanford for the first time as league opponents and cap the regular season at home with games against Boston College and rival North Carolina.
Duke is set to face 10 NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, including NCAA Champion North Carolina and runner-up Northwestern. Of the 10 ranked opponents, five are in the ACC. The remaining five are the No. 2 Wildcats, No. 4 Maryland, No. 7 Liberty, No. 13 Saint Joseph's and No. 17 Old Dominion.
Duke, after playing five of its first nine games on Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, hits the road for a five-game stretch that spans most of October. The Blue Devils end the season at home before heading to the ACC Championship hosted by Wake Forest.
A Look at the Front Half
Duke opens the season with a weekend set against William & Mary and UMASS Lowell, August 30 and September 1, respectively.
Northwestern hosts the annual ACC/BIG 10 Cup this year as the Blue Devils take on the host Wildcats and Maryland at Lakeside Field in Evanston Sept. 6 and 8. A weekend jaunt to Virginia for matchups at Old Dominion and Liberty and a home contest versus Saint Joseph's will be the final warmups before Duke kicks off ACC play.
The Blue Devils open league action on their home turf against Virginia and Syracuse, Sept. 26 and 29, respectively, to wrap up the first half of the campaign.
Breaking Down the Back Half
The Blue Devils will be road warriors in the month of October with Duke heading across the country to play California and Stanford to kick off the month. It will be the first meetings with the Bears and Cardinal since playing the West Coast schools in 2019. Duke slows down a bit with just one game at Wake Forest the next week before traveling to Louisville for a Friday night matchup and returning home to take on VCU on Sunday.
The Blue Devils return home for the next two weeks to close out their conference slate with Boston College and North Carolina.
