DURHAM – Duke senior
Claire Davidson has been selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball Draft, as announced by the organization during the live draft Tuesday night.
Davidson was one of 15 players to be drafted to the professional league and joins Valerie Cagle of Clemson as the two representatives from the ACC.
The Lakewood Ranch, Fla., native continues to power the Blue Devils' offense, leading the team in batting average (.428), home runs (17), runs scored (58) and RBI (61). Davidson is one of six players to have started all 53 games this season, primarily in the outfield. Her 61 RBI on the year rank 10th in the NCAA and has set a Duke single-season record. She owns a .908 slugging percentage, which sits seventh in the NCAA.
Davidson was unanimously voted ACC Player of the Year and named a finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. She was also named to the ACC All-Tournament team after guiding Duke to its second ACC Softball Championship title, defeating second-seeded Florida State, 6-3, on Saturday at Duke Softball Stadium.
She joins former Duke softball standout
Peyton St. George as the only two Blue Devils to be selected in the Athletes Unlimited draft.
