QUICK HITS
- In one of the wildest games of the season, Duke completed the first sweep of Miami in program history at Jack Coombs Field. The Blue Devils trailed 7-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning, before tying the ballgame to force extras. In the top of the 11th, the Hurricanes regained the lead with a three-spot in the frame. Duke once again responded in the bottom half as Logan Bravo singled to right center to score Ben Miller from second. Later in the frame, the Hurricanes attempted a hidden ball trick, but due to the pitcher being on the mound, AJ Gracia was awarded one base due to a balk, cutting the lead to 10-9. Wallace Clark drove a 2-0 pitch to center field to score a pair of Blue Devils to secure the second walk-off victory of the weekend.
- Zac Morris leads the team with 18 two-out RBI this season, as the Blue Devils have tallied 68 as a collective unit. The 68 runs account for 24.0% of Duke's scoring this season.
- The Blue Devils have continued to pounce on opponents like they did throughout the season in 2023. Duke has recorded 179 of its 283 runs so far this season from the fourth to eighth innings. That number accounts for 63.3% of the run production.
- Graduate Ben Miller continues to put up video game numbers during his 2024 campaign. Miller leads the team in batting average (.448), doubles (15), OPS (1.289), hits (60), slugging percentage (.776) and on base percentage (.513). His 60 hits are the most in the country by a single player. The Durham, N.C., native has also added 11 walks and seven hit by pitches, tallying two 13-game hitting streaks. He enters the sixth week of play with a 13-game hitting streak and tallied his 19th multi-hit contest of the season on Sunday against Miami. In his last 10 games, Miller has posted a .489 average (23-for-47) with 16 runs scored, five doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 RBI. He is now five doubles away from tying a handful of players for fifth all-time in a single season with 20 and nine doubles away from tying Vaughn Schill who finished the 1999 season with 24 doubles.
- Duke improved to 10-0 on the season when scoring 10-plus runs in a game. The Blue Devils nearly tallied their fourth 20-plus run game of the year, scoring 18 against Rider in game two of the double midweek. Duke was 18-0 a year ago when scoring 10 or more runs in a contest and 4-0 in the ACC.
