DURHAM – Duke track and field makes the quick trip up to High Point this weekend to compete in the VertKlasse Meeting. The two-day meet is set for April 5-6 at Vert Stadium, with live results available via FlashResults while the action streams live on ESPN+.
The Blue Devils will be represented by 44 individuals at the meet – 19 men and 25 women.
Duke enters the weekend with the women's squad ranked No. 19 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top-25 poll. The Blue Devil women also sit atop the Southeast Region standings while the men's team checks in at No. 4.
In the #EventSquad rankings, the Duke women rank among the top 20 in seven categories including top-10 marks in the 800m (No. 2), 200m hurdles (No. 5), 200m (No. 8), 400m (No. 8) and 100m (No. 9).
On the men's side, Duke is second in the hammer throw, fourth in the 1500m and seventh in the 800m. The Blue Devils also rank among the top-20 nationally in the 5000m.
Duke's Friday slate consists of field events only and opens at 10 a.m., via the men's high jump. On Saturday, the Blue Devils get the day started with the women's 100m (9:45 a.m.) with field events scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m., in the men's shot put (10 a.m.).
LAST TIME OUT
Duke turned in a very strong showing at the Raleigh Relays with the Blue Devils registering 13 top-five program marks during the weekend.
The first day of the Raleigh Relays saw the Blue Devils register a trio of top-five program marks via the men's 1500m (Beck Wittstadt), women's javelin (Julia Magliaro) and women's shot put (MaKayla Mason).
Amina Maatoug was the headliner for Duke track and field on Friday as the junior delivered a blistering performance en route to smashing her own school record in the women's 5,000m.
The Blue Devils also received standout performances from Mason and classmates Ezra Mellinger(100m) and Tia Rozario (triple jump), with the trio slotting themselves into the program record books in each of their respective events.
Duke concluded competition at the Raleigh Relays on a high note with the team registering six more top-five program marks – including one school record – to push its weekend total to 13.
Additionally, Duke produced a quartet of event wins via the women's pole vault invitational, men's long jump, women's 4x100m relay and women's 4x400m relay.
