Coffman retired from Duke on June 30, 2022, after 17 years with the Blue Devils. Following his retirement, he shifted into his current role of Senior Advisor for Athletics Philanthropy.
After joining the Duke staff in 2005, Coffman held a variety of positions within Athletics, including titles of Associate Director of Athletics for Development and Planning, Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Development and Planning and Deputy Director of Athletics for Philanthropy.
As the Deputy Director of Athletics for Philanthropy, a position he was promoted to in May 2013, Coffman was responsible for coordinating fundraising for the entire Duke Athletics Department, including the Iron Dukes Annual Fund, major gifts, principal gifts, varsity club for each specific sports program and campus recreation and club sports.
