DURHAM – Following a nearly three-week break of matches, the 14th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will return to action this weekend in Florida as the Blue Devils open ACC play against 25th-ranked Miami and 33rd-ranked Florida State on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Blue Devils (6-2, 0-0 ACC) and Hurricanes (2-2, 0-0 ACC) will feature a first serve at 12 p.m., on Friday in Coral Gables, while Duke and Florida State (4-3, 0-0 ACC) also will open play at 12 p.m., on Sunday in Tallahassee.

The Series with Miami
The Blue Devils and the Miami Hurricanes will square off for the 35th time in school history. Duke is 20-14 all-time in the series, winning its last matchup, 4-3. The two teams will meet in Florida for the 14th time with the last matchup occurring on Mar. 27, 2022. Miami won the meeting, 4-3, snapping a Blue Devil two-match win streak against the Hurricanes in Florida.
Scouting Miami
Miami owns a 2-2 overall record on the season with the Hurricanes topping No. 9 Texas A&M in their latest matchup, 4-3, at home. In the latest ITA rankings, Miami sits at No. 25. The Hurricanes feature three players in the singles ledgers— Alexa Noel (10), Isabella Pfennig (67) and Audrey Boch-Collins (101). In doubles, Alexa Noel/Xinyi Nong (48) are ranked. Miami is coached by Paige Yaroshuk-Tews, who enters her 27th year leading the Hurricanes. Yaroshuk-Tews and the Hurricanes recorded a 16-8 record a year ago placing them at No. 16 in the final ITA rankings.
The Series with Florida State
The Blue Devils and the Florida State Seminoles will face off for the 45th time in school history. Duke is 38-6 all-time in the series, winning its last matchup, 6-1. The two teams will square off in Tallahassee for the 14th time with the last matchup occurring on Mar. 25, 2022. Florida State won the meeting, 4-2, snapping a four-match win streak against the Seminoles in Tallahassee.

In the latest ITA rankings, the Seminoles currently slot at No. 33 in team standings. Florida State features two players in the singles ledgers— Victoria Allen (52) and Ellie Schoppe (55). In doubles, Ellie Schoppe/Maelie Monfils (38) are the lone ranked duo. FSU will host North Carolina on Friday, prior to facing the Blue Devils on Sunday.

Blue Devils Defeat No. 13 UCLA
Duke registered an impressive victory, 4-0, over No. 13 UCLA in its last match. After winning the doubles point, the Blue Devils received singles wins from
Brianna Shvets,
Ellie Coleman and
Shavit Kimchi. Duke had dropped the doubles point in three out of its last four matches prior. The win was the first of the season for the Blue Devils against a ranked opponent.
Ashworth Reaches 600 Wins
Head coach
Jamie Ashworth reached his 600th victory on Jan. 20 in a 4-2 win over Illinois. He accomplished this mark in only 747 matches becoming the quickest coach to 600 wins.

Duke will return home for the first time since Jan. 27 as the Blue Devils host Syracuse (March 1) and Boston College (March 3). The match with the Orange will start at 6 p.m., while the contest with the Eagles opens at 2 p.m.

- After seeing limited action as a freshman, Katie Codd had an impressive fall totaling a 7-3 record, including winners of five out of her final six matches.She tallied a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Vanderbilt's Celia Belle Mohr for the highest ranked victory of her career. With her three wins to open the dual match season, Codd is now 6-1 in dual matches over her short career.
- So far this season, Duke has received two ACC weekly honors – Shavit Kimchi (ACC Freshman of the Week) and Brianna Shvets and Iuliia Bryzgalova (ACC Doubles Team of the Week).
- Playing at the No. 1 singles slot, freshman Shavit Kimchi has totaled a 4-2 dual match record with one win against a ranked opponent.
- Graduate student Iuliia Bryzgalova needs six singles wins to reach 100 for her collegiate career, while fellow graduate student Brianna Shvets needs eight wins for 100.
- The Blue Devils have won 50 out of the last 51 matches when winning the doubles point.Duke had won 47 in a row, before a defeat in the NCAA Tournament second round last season to UCLA.
- In the fall, freshman Shavit Kimchi became the first Blue Devil to open her collegiate career with a pair of top-30 ranked wins since Beatrice Capra accomplished it in 2010-11.Over the last 17 years, only Kimchi and Capra registered this feat.
