DURHAM – For the first time this season, the 17th-ranked Duke women's tennis team will hit the road as the Blue Devils (5-1) head to Columbus, Ohio to face 12th-ranked Ohio State (3-1) and 13th-ranked UCLA (2-1) at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center on the campus of Ohio State.
Duke will go up against Ohio State on Friday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m., and then battle UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m., in a neutral site match.

The Series with Ohio State
Duke and Ohio State will face off for the 10th time in school history. Duke is 8-1 all-time in the series, winning its last matchup, 4-3. The two teams will meet in Columbus for only the second time with the last matchup coming on Jan. 31, 2020. Ohio State won the meeting, 4-2, which is the only loss in the series for the Blue Devils.
Scouting Ohio State
Ohio State holds a 3-1 record on the season with the Buckeyes defeating Arizona State in their latest matchup, 4-0, at home. In the latest ITA rankings, the Buckeyes are ranked No. 12 as a team and feature two in the singles ledgers—Irina Cantos Siemers (15) and Luciana Perry (85). In doubles, Cantos Siemers/Ratliff (17) and Perry/Cantos Siemers (21) are ranked.
Duke Versus the Big Ten
The Blue Devils are 127-22 all-time versus the Big Ten Conference—Wisconsin (7-0), Purdue (3-0), Indiana (20-9), Illinois (8-1), Northwestern (22-5), Nebraska (2-0), Minnesota (2-0), Iowa (2-0), Maryland (39-3), Ohio State (8-1), Michigan (11-3), Michigan State (2-0), Rutgers (1-0). Duke is currently on a 6-match win streak versus Big Ten opponents.
The Series with UCLA
The Blue Devils and UCLA Bruins will square off for the 12th time in school history. Duke is 4-7 all-time in the series. In their latest matchup, the Blue Devils dropped the contest, 3-4, in Durham last season in the NCAA Tournament second round. Duke and UCLA have met at neutral sites in all but one contest, which was in 2023 in Durham.

The Bruins own a 2-1 record on the season under head coach Stella Sampras Webster, who enters her 28th season at the helm of UCLA. In the latest ITA rankings, Ahmani Guichard is the lone ranked player in singles at No. 99. UCLA registered a 15-8 record a year ago and will enter the Big Ten Conference in 2024-25.

Duke is 24-23 all-time versus the PAC-12 Conference—Arizona (3-1), Arizona State (6-3), UCLA (4-7), Oregon (1-0), Southern California (1-2), Stanford (2-10), Utah (3-0), Washington (4-0).
Ashworth Reaches 600 Wins
Head coach
Jamie Ashworth reached his 600th victory on Jan. 20 in a 4-2 win over Illinois. He accomplished this mark in only 747 matches becoming the quickest coach to 600 wins.

Ashworth became the seventh NCAA Division I coach to reach the 600-win ledger – Loring (846), Wallace (818), Kalbas (748), Jay Louderback (703), Geoff MacDonald (631), Gualberto Escudero (Pepperdine) and Ashworth (600).
What is Next?
Duke will be off until Feb. 23 when the Blue Devils travel to Miami, Fla., to open ACC action with the Hurricanes in Coral Gables, Fla. The match will feature a first serve at 12 p.m.

Noting the Blue Devils
• After seeing limited action as a freshman,
Katie Codd had an impressive fall totaling a 7-3 record, including winners of five out of her final six matches. She tallied a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Vanderbilt's Celia Belle Mohr for the highest ranked victory of her career. With her three wins to open the dual match season, Codd is now 6-0 in dual matches over her short career.
• So far this season, Duke has received two ACC weekly honors –

Iuliia Bryzgalova (ACC Doubles Team of the Week).

Shavit Kimchi has totaled a 4-2 dual match record with one win against a ranked opponent.

Iuliia Bryzgalova needs six singles wins to reach 100 for her collegiate career, while fellow graduate student
Brianna Shvets needs nine wins for 100.
• The Blue Devils have won 49 out of the last 50 matches when winning the doubles point. Duke had won 47 in a row, before a defeat in the NCAA Tournament second round last season to UCLA.
• In the fall, freshman
Shavit Kimchi became the first Blue Devil to open her collegiate career with a pair of top-30 ranked wins since Beatrice Capra accomplished it in 2010-11. Over the last 17 years, only Kimchi and Capra registered this feat.
