Barkate Joins Duke Football Program

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Sunday that wide receiver Cooper Barkate, a 2024 FCS All-America selection, has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
The 6-1, 195-pound Barkate played in 23 games with 19 starts for Harvard the past three years. He helped the Crimson to a combined record of 22-8 with a share of the Ivy League crowns in 2023 and 2024. This fall, Harvard went 8-2 with a 5-2 Ivy mark.Â
Barkate, coming off one of the finest seasons in Harvard history, earned a place on the American Football Coaches Association FCS All-America Second Team and received honorable mention All-America accolades from the Associated Press. He led Harvard with 63 receptions for 1,084 yards (17.21) and 11 touchdowns while adding two rushes for six yards (3.00).Â

The first-team All-Ivy League selection finished the regular season ranked second nationally in receiving yards per game (108.40), sixth in receiving TDs, seventh in receiving yards and 10th in receptions per game (6.30).
Barkate, a Newport Beach, Calif., native, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2025 campaign.Â
As a sophomore in 2023, Barkate started and played in nine games, hauling in 40 passes for a team-high 501 yards (12.53) and three touchdowns. He also rushed 10 times for 74 yards (7.40) and one score and returned four punts for 29 yards (7.25). During his first season with the Crimson, he appeared in four games, finishing with 10 receptions for 157 yards (15.70) and one punt return for nine yards (9.00).Â
During his career, Barkate has totaled 113 receptions for 1,742 yards (15.42) and 14 touchdowns. He has added 12 rushes for 80 yards (6.67) and five punt returns for 38 yards (7.60).Â
