Anthony Joins Duke Football Program

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Monday that wide receiver Andrel Anthony has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
The 6-1, 186-pound Anthony played in 32 games for Michigan (25) and Oklahoma (seven) with six starts over the past four years. He appeared in 25 contests for Michigan in 2021 and 2022, helping the Wolverines to a combined record of 25-3 with a pair of Big Ten Championship victories and two College Football Playoff (CFP) trips. With the Sooners in 2023, Anthony started the first six games of the season before tearing his ACL versus Texas and missing the remainder of the season. He came back for the 2024 opener against Temple and made one reception for four yards, but did not make another appearance at OU.Â
Before suffering his injury in 2023, Anthony had registered a team-leading 429 yards and a touchdown on 27 receptions. He made five catches for 42 yards against Texas and notched a season-high 117 yards on seven grabs at Cincinnati. He added 112 yards on four receptions at Tulsa with seven catches for 76 yards and a touchdown versus SMU.
Anthony, a Lansing, Mich., native, will have one season of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2025 campaign.
As a Wolverine in 2022, Anthony played in all 14 games, hauling in seven passes for 80 yards. He added a fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown against Nebraska. As a freshman at Michigan in 2021, he appeared in 12 of team's 14 contests. He finished the year with 12 receptions for 248 yards and three touchdowns. He shared the team's offensive rookie of the year award. He finished on a strong note, catching a 35-yard touchdown pass against Georgia in CFP Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl. He earned co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week accolades following a six-catch performance for a career-high 155 yards and two touchdowns at Michigan State.Â
During his career, Anthony has totaled 47 receptions for 761 yards (16.19) and four touchdowns. He has added two rushes for four yards (2.00).
