Mensah Joins Duke Football Program

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head football coach Manny Diaz announced Thursday that quarterback Darian Mensah has signed a financial aid agreement to attend the institution and join the Blue Devil gridiron program.
Mensah started 13 games for Tulane this past fall, guiding the Green Wave to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) championship game and a 9-4 overall record with a 7-1 league mark. He completed 189-of-287 (.659) passes for 2,723 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in his first season as a starter. Mensah led all AAC starters in yards per attempt (9.49) and completion percentage. On the ground, he added 60 rushing attempts for 132 yards and a score.Â
Mensah, who will have three seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2025 campaign, led a Tulane offense that ranked among the top 10 nationally in third down conversion percentage (2nd/.525), yards per completion (6th/14.32), team passing efficiency (7th/166.86) and points per game (9th/37.15).
A 6-3, 200-pound native of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Mensah capped his senior year at Saint Joseph High School as the 2022 Mountain League Player of the Year after posting 2,256 passing yards with 25 touchdowns. He added eight rushing scores and helped the team to a 10-2 record in 2022 with a 7-0 mark in the Mountain League.Â
