DURHAM, N.C. – Duke track and field graduate student
Christian Johnson has been named the ACC Men's Indoor Field Performer of the Week after turning in a record-breaking performance at the Liberty Kickoff this past weekend.
Johnson picked up the first of Duke's eight event wins during the weekend, courtesy of a career performance in the men's weight throw Thursday afternoon. He came through with his best throw on the sixth attempt, launching the weight 22.45m (73-7.75 feet) to lock up the win. Johnson's mark was tops in the ACC and No. 3 in the nation and bested his own program record by nearly two feet.
Duke resumes indoor competition after the holiday break, making the trip down Tobacco Road for the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge Jan. 18.
