DURHAM, N.C. – With the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) playoffs set to open Friday, Nov. 8, the Duke women's soccer program features four former standouts –
Ella Stevens (NJ/NY Gotham FC),
Sophie Jones (Chicago Red Stars),
Michelle Cooper (Kansas City Current) and
Tess Boade (Bay FC) -- on the eight teams kicking off action this weekend.
Stevens and NJ/NY Gotham FC are seeded third and will host sixth-seeded Portland Thorns FC on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m., on ABC. Cooper and the fourth-seeded Kansas City Current will face No. 5 seed North Carolina Courage at home on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m., on CBS Sports Network and streaming on Paramount +.
Jones' eighth-seeded Chicago Red Stars squad travels to top-seeded Orlando on Friday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m., on Prime. Seventh-seeded Bay FC with Boade are seeded No. 7 and will be on the road at No. 2 seed Washington Spirit on Nov. 10 at 12:30 p.m., on ABC.
Boade, a 2021 Duke graduate, has started 23-of-25 matches this season and has tallied three goals and two assists for Bay FC in its first season in the NWSL. A 2020 Blue Devil graduate, Stevens has turned in a solid first season with Gotham FC with seven goals and four assists, while receiving the starting nod in 15-of-22 contests.
Cooper, a two-time All-American at Duke, started 15-of-21 matches has collected three goals and two assists on the year for the Current. Jones, who graduated from Duke in 2023, has not seen action with the Red Stars this season.
The semifinal round will take place Nov. 16 and No. 17.
