DURHAM, N.C. – The ACC office released the ACC Honors for women's soccer on Wednesday with Duke earning four major awards, while six Blue Devils were named to the All-ACC team.
Graduate student
Maggie Graham was selected ACC Midfielder of the Year, sophomore
Cameron Roller earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year, fifth year
Leah Freeman was tabbed ACC Goalkeeper of the Year and head coach
Robbie Church earned ACC Coach of the Year accolades. Duke received four of the five major awards presented.
On the All-ACC team, Graham, Roller and Freeman earned first team honors, while graduate student
Hannah Bebar, sophomore
Mia Oliaro and fifth year
Ella Hase received second team accolades. The six All-ACC selections led the league with Wake Forest second with five. Duke's six honorees marks the fourth time the Blue Devils have received six or more selections (2017 – 8, 1994 – 7, 2011 – 6). The Blue Devils have now earned 116 All-ACC selections in league history to rank third all-time.
Graham, a native of Atlanta, Ga., has featured a breakout season in her final year at Duke with a team-high 10 goals, five assists and 25 points. The All-ACC honors are the first of her career with the Blue Devils. In ACC regular season play, Graham ranked tied for first in goals (7) and tied for second in points (18). Graham had totaled eight goals and 10 assists prior to her impressive 2024 season so far.
With Graham earning All-ACC honors, she joins her sister, Delaney, as family members to be named All-ACC over their career. They are just the ninth sister tandem in league history to earn the distinction. Delaney was a three-time selection during her career (2019, 2020-21, 2022).
Graham joins Quinn (2017) as the only other Blue Devil to be named ACC Midfielder of the Year.
In just her second year with the Blue Devils, Roller continues to be one of the top defenders nationally. She has started all 16 matches and competed in 1,343 minutes on the season. Roller, who is from Sherman, Texas, played the entire 90 minutes in nine of the 10 ACC regular season contests. She collected the game-winning goal on the road at California, along with tallies against UNC Wilmington and ETSU. Roller also assisted on the game-winning goal against second-ranked North Carolina in September.
Roller joins only Christina Gibbons (2016) and Schuyler DeBree (2017) as ACC Defensive Players of the Year from Duke.
With the honor for Freeman, she became the first player in NCAA history to earn Goalkeeper of the Year accolades from two different conferences. She was tabbed Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year in 2022 and ACC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2024. Freeman, a native of Berkeley, Calif., has totaled four individual shutouts and helped lead the Blue Devils to eight clean sheets on the season. Her .792 save percentage and .740 goals-against average ranks third in the ACC, while helping Duke to the tied for fewest goals allowed this season in the league with 11.
Of her five years in college, Freeman was tabbed First Team All-Conference three times (2024, 2022, 2021) and Third Team twice (2023, 2020). Freeman is the first Blue Devil to receive ACC Goalkeeper of the Year honors, after the award was started in 2022.
In his final season at the helm of the Blue Devils, Church has guided Duke to a very special season. Duke won just the fourth ACC Regular Season title in program history, reached nine ACC wins for the second time, ranked No. 1 nationally the last five weeks in the United Soccer Coaches poll and helped the Blue Devils to the best win turnaround nationally in 2024 with eight (6 to 14).
The Coach of the Year honor for Church marked the third by the ACC over his 24 seasons at Duke. He also earned the nod in 2011 and 2017.
Bebar, who is from Naperville, Ill., was selected to the All-ACC Second Team. One of the top midfielders in the nation, Bebar started all 16 matches and logged 1,218 minutes, while adding four assists for 10 points. She is coming off registering her first brace as a Blue Devil at eighth-ranked North Carolina to conclude the regular season. It marked the fourth straight year Bebar has earned All-Conference recognition as she was a three-time First Team All-Ivy League in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Just a sophomore, Oliaro received her first All-ACC nod with the second team distinction. Oliaro, a product of Chapel Hill, turned in a Duke school record of nine assists and 21 points in ACC regular season play. She led the league in both categories, while also totaling six goals, including three game-winners. Oliaro owns an ACC-best nine-match streak of collecting a goal or assist, which also tied a Duke record. In her wingback role, Oliaro stepped up against the best opponents with three goals and five assists against ranked opponents.
Another big-time impact transfer for the Blue Devils was Hase, who received second team accolades. An Orland Park, Ill., native, Hase has been key in the wingback role along with Oliaro. Hase has registered nine assists and three goals on the year and helped the Blue Devil defense to eight shutouts. She has posted two goals and six assists versus ACC foes. Hase also earned All-Big Ten Second Team accolades in 2023 at Northwestern.
No. 1 seed Duke (14-1-1) will open postseason play Thursday, Nov. 7 against fourth-seeded North Carolina at 8 p.m., in the ACC Championship semifinals at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
