NEED TO KNOW
- The No. 1 seeded Duke women's soccer team (15-2-1) is set to host NCAA Tournament second-round action Friday, Nov. 22 as the top-ranked Blue Devils welcome 17th-ranked Texas Tech (15-4-2) at 6:30 p.m., inside Koskinen Stadium.
- No. 21 Texas will also play No. 16 Michigan State on Friday at 4 p.m., at Duke with the winners meeting Sunday, Nov. 24 at 6 p.m., in the round of 16 in Durham.
- Friday's contests will be aired live on ESPN+ with Zach Berley and Cedric Burke on the call.
- Duke is making its 29th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and enter as a top-16 national seed for the eighth time out of the last nine seasons. It marked the first time in Blue Devil history the squad was the No. 1 overall seed.
- Robbie Church announced on July 22, 2024 he will be retiring at the end of the season. Duke will be promote associate head coach Kieran Hall to head coach in 2025. Current assistant coach Carla Overbeck will move to associate head coach in 2025 as well.
STORYLINES/OTHER BLUE DEVIL NOTES
- In NCAA Tournament matches being played in Durham, N.C., the Blue Devils boast a 29-3-1 record. Duke has won 13 straight opening NCAA matches played in Durham, N.C. In the NCAA second round, Duke features an 11-match win streak.
- Mia Minestrella tied an NCAA Tournament record with four goals against Howard. She became the 10th player in NCAA history to accomplish the feat, while Texas' Holly Ward became the 11th after Minestrella on Friday.
- Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Penn State led the field with eight goals scored in the first round. Mia Minestrella led the field with nine points and Ella Hase tied for the lead with two assists.
- On the season, Duke has 62 goals by 13 different players. Eleven Blue Devils have totaled two or more goals. Duke has also scored two or more goals in 13 of the past 14 contests.
- Duke currently features a nine-win turnaround from a season ago, which is the second-biggest win difference nationally this season and the tied for third-longest in Duke history. Stephen F. Austin owns the best in 2024 with a 12-win improvement.
- Mia Oliaro has scored a goal or registered an assist in 10 of the past 11 matches.
- Blue Devil sophomore Mia Oliaro (2, 12) fifth year Ella Hase (3, 11), and junior Devin Lynch (5, 10) all rank in the top five of the ACC in assists and top 15 nationally.
- Duke has scored 62 goals in 18 matches this season, compared to the 15 goals in 16 contests a season ago.
- The last time the Blue Devils dropped a season opener was in 2017. Duke went on to win 19 straight after the loss and made an appearance in the NCAA College Cup.
- Duke was shut out in the season opener for the first time since 2014, which was also a loss to Ohio State (1-0).
- The last time Duke head coach Robbie Church dealt with a losing season was in 2014 and the next year he led the Blue Devils to the 2015 NCAA College Cup.

- Duke and Texas Tech will meet for the first time in program history.
SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS
- Texas Tech enters the contest with a 15-4-2 ledger and totaled an 8-1-2 record in Big 12 action this year under head coach Tom Stone.
- Taylor Zdrojewski (10 goals, 4 assists) and Peyton Parsons (9 goals, 5 assists) have paced the Red Raiders so far this year. Macy Blackburn owns 10 assists to lead Texas Tech.
DUKE VERSUS THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE
- Duke currently holds an 11-7-1 record against teams from the Big 12 Conference -- Baylor (1-1), Kansas (0-1), Oklahoma State (1-1), Texas (4-1), TCU (2-0) and West Virginia (3-3-1).
- In the NCAA Tournament, the Blue Devils are 3-2 versus Big 12 teams -- Oklahoma State (0-1), West Virginia (0-1), Texas (2-0) and Baylor (1-0).

- Duke sophomore Cameron Roller will face her home state team of Texas Tech on Friday. Roller lives approximately five hours from Lubbock, Texas.
- Roller played club, national team or summer league with Clara Whitten, Taylor Zdrojewski, Lauren Woodruff, Jules Burrows, Macy Blackburn, Kylie Bahr, Peyton Annen, Cassie Taylor, Stroie Sexton, Madeline Mueller, Kaitlyn Giametta, Sam Courtwright and Elise Anderson.
- Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone returns to Durham after a standout playing career with the Blue Devils from 1984-87. In his four-year career at Duke, Stone was an All-ACC selection three times, while also setting the Duke record for most NCAA Tournament goals in a career and game-winners in a single season. Stone was also a team captain on the 1987 squad and still remains among the top 10 on the school's career points chart.
- Stone may be most remembered for his game-winning goal in the 1986 National Championship match that helped Duke win its only NCAA title with a 1-0 victory. Stone, just a junior at the time, scored the match's lone goal, finding the open net in the 46th minute for his 16th goal of the season. He was later named the Offensive Most Valuable Player for the match.

- The Blue Devils are competing in their 29th all-time NCAA Championship and hold a 49-24-11 overall record in 84 tournament matches.
- The Blue Devils are 42-17-10 under Robbie Church in the NCAA Championship. He has led Duke to the big dance in 21 of his 24 seasons in Durham.
- Duke has advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship nine times over the past 13 seasons (since 2011).

- Hannah Bebar competed in five NCAA Tournament matches and notched one goal and two assists over that span at Harvard. Her squad wasn't able to get past the second round during her time with the Crimson.
- Ella Hase helped lead Northwestern to the round of 16 in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
- Junior Farrah Walters and her Santa Clara squad advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two years.
- Katie Groff (2020-21, 2021, 2022), Nicky Chico (2020-21, 2021, 2022), Maggie Graham (2020-21, 2021, 2022) and Devin Lynch (2022) were a part of Duke's NCAA runs earlier in their careers.
- Carina Lageyre will also make her NCAA debut against Texas Tech as she was injured as a freshman in 2022 when Duke made its run to the NCAA quarterfinals.

- She tied a Duke-record nine straight matches with a goal or an assist, ranking as the longest streak in the ACC. The streak came to an end against UNC in the ACC Championship semifinal.
- Her 12 assists rank second in the ACC and are tied for third on Duke's single-season chart.

- Sophomore Sam Bodensteiner made her first collegiate start on the road at No. 2 Wake Forest on Oct. 27 as graduate student Nicky Chico was not available due to receiving a red card in the match before. Bodensteiner played the full 90 minutes, helping Duke shut out the No. 2 Demon Deacons.
- After not scoring last season for the Blue Devils, Devin Lynch and Mia Minestrella have combined for 18 goals and 16 assists on the season for 52 points.
- Robbie Church finished his Duke career with 121 ACC wins, which is the third most in league history behind Steve Swanson (151) and Anson Dorrance (244).
- Katie Groff totaled her second goal of the season against Louisville and has registered two goals in each of the last four years.
