DURHAM – Duke softball earned its third top-10 preseason ranking after being named the No. 9 team in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Blue Devils were also tabbed No. 8 in D1Softball
's preseason poll and No. 9 in Softball America's top-25.
The 2024 schedule includes six matchups with teams featured in the preseason poll in No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 4 Florida State, No. 7 Clemson, No. 17 Nebraska, No. 23 Virginia Tech and Liberty receiving votes.
Head coach
Marissa Young enters her seventh season at the helm of the program and holds a 213-97 overall ledger. She returns 15 letterwinners from last year's team that compiled a program-best 48 wins and earned the right to host an NCAA Super Regional for the first time. The Blue Devils also welcomed four newcomers in freshmen

Duke
opens the season in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with four games in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. Duke will face reigning three-time national champion Oklahoma (Feb. 8), Iowa State (Feb. 9), Nebraska (Feb. 9) and Long Beach State (Feb. 10) during the event.
