DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team (10-3, 1-1 ACC) will hit the road for two ACC contests in the state of Florida.
The Blue Devils will take on Miami in Coral Gables Friday at 7 p.m., before a 2 p.m. contest Sunday at Florida State. The match against the Seminoles will be broadcast on ACC Network.
LAST TIME OUT
Duke fell to No. 8 Pittsburgh (3-0) before it swept Virginia in ACC action over the weekend at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
MIAMI
Duke and Miami meet for the 32nd time in program history as the Blue Devils hold a narrow 17-14 advantage in the all-time series. The Hurricanes have won six of the last seven meetings as Duke is 8-5 in Tallahassee.
FLORIDA STATE
Duke and Florida State meet for the 63rd time in program history. The Blue Devils lead the all-time series 37-25 but have lost 13 of the last 15 meetings, including the last 10.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
MIAMI
Miami enters Friday's contest 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the ACC and most recently fell to Wake Forest (3-1) and defeated Virginia Tech (3-1). Offensively, the Hurricanes are led by Angela Grieve with 142 kills and Flormarie Heredia Colon with 115 kills and a .256 hitting percentage. Setter Savannah Vach owns 482 dimes and leads the team in digs with 97. As a team, Miami is hitting .256 percent this fall with 14.2 kills/set.
FLORIDA STATE
Florida State enters Sunday's contest 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. The Seminoles outlasted Virginia Tech (3-2) before a 3-0 sweep over Wake Forest. The Seminoles are led by Audrey Koenig and Khori Louis with 132 and 123 kills, respectively. Florida State utilizes two setters - Andjelija Draskovic and Kenna Phelan - who own 277 and 258 assists, respectively. Kyleene Filimaua leads the defensive charge with 134 digs while Kiari Robey has 55 total blocks to her name. As a team, the Seminoles are hitting .313 percent this fall to rank fourth nationally and are sixth nationally with 14.3 kills/set.
