DURHAM – Coming off registering a brace at Boston College on Sunday to open ACC play, Duke women's soccer sophomore
Carina Lageyre was tabbed ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday as announced by the league office.
Lageyre also earned College Soccer News National Team of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer Honorable Mention Team of the Week for her efforts.
A product of Cooper City, Fla., Lageyre collected the quickest goal by the Blue Devils this season at the 2:51 mark of the first half to put Duke ahead, 1-0. She added another tally at the 31:14 mark to give the Blue Devils a key 2-0 advantage on the road. The two goals by Lageyre were the first two of her collegiate career.
Duke (5-2-0, 1-0-0 ACC) went on to collect a 2-0 win to open ACC play and remain unbeaten in ACC openers over the last 11 contests. It also marked the seventh straight win in the series against the Eagles.
The Blue Devils also finished off a suspended match with UNC Greensboro on Monday with a 1-0 victory, while Lageyre played the entire 90 minutes in the midfield.
Injured for most of her freshman campaign, Lageyre is one of the top midfielders in the collegiate game and is showing it in 2023 with two goals and three assists for seven points. She has started all seven matches on the season and leads Duke with 598 minutes played.
The honor for Lageyre is the first of her career and is the first for the Blue Devils in 2023.
Duke next hosts Notre Dame Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., in a nationally-ranked battle at Koskinen Stadium.
