CLEMSON, S.C. – The Duke men's soccer team fell, 2-0, at Clemson on Friday night. In a tightly contested, physical, conference matchup, the Blue Devils (4-1-1, 1-1-0) out-shot the Tigers (4-2-1, 1-1-0), 13-9, and drew 17 of the 29 total fouls but were unable to find the back of the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams spent the opening minutes of the match getting settled into the run of play.
- Forster Ajago placed the first shot on goal in the ninth minute, with the Clemson goalkeeper making the stop.
- Clemson scored the first goal of the evening in the 19th minute on a Duke own goal, as a cross by the Tigers was deflected by a Duke defender and found the back of the net.
- Possession was controlled by the Tigers through the middle portion of the first half. The Blue Devils steadied themselves and controlled possession during the 15 minutes ahead of halftime but were unable to find an equalizer.
- The Blue Devils' first scoring chance of the second half came in the 59th minute, as Kenan Hot had his shot hit the crossbar and bounce out.
- The two teams struggled to create any other strong scoring chances throughout the middle of the second half, exchanging possession in the midfield.
- The Tigers scored their second goal in the 75th minute via a header off a corner kick.
- Duke pushed forward as time wound down, taking six shots in the final 15 minutes but couldn't find the back of the net.

- The two teams ended with the same number of shots on goal (4).
- Forster Ajago led the Blue Devils in shots with all three of his attempts on goal.
- The loss marked Duke's first regular-season defeat since the 2021 season, snapping a stretch of 23 consecutive contests.
