CHARLOTTE – Duke men's soccer goalkeeper
Julian Eyestone has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week following his two shutouts in matches against Princeton and Virginia, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Eyestone, a true freshman, earns his first ACC Player of the Week recognition of his career. The Dallas, Texas native joins his teammate
Forster Ajago as Duke players to earn Player of the Week honors, after Ajago was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29.
Eyestone has played all 450 available minutes for the Blue Devils so far this season, including his back-to-back shutouts in Duke's two wins last week over Princeton (2-0) and Virginia (2-0). He now has three clean sheets in his young career, has made 13 total saves and has a save percentage of .813. Eyestone's three shutouts are currently tied for the most in the ACC and seventh-most nationally, while his 13 saves are second-most in the league.
Duke takes on Clemson in its next match, as the Blue Devils travel to Historic Riggs Field for an ACC matchup on Friday, Sept. 15. Kickoff has been moved to 7:30 p.m., and fans are able to watch on ACC Network Extra.
