DURHAM – Duke senior offensive lineman Graham Bartonhas been named to The Sporting News 2023 Preseason All-America second team, the publication announced Tuesday.
This is Barton's fourth preseason All-America selection as he was also selected by Athlon Sports (second team), Phil Steele's College Football Preview (second team) and Walter Camp (honorable mention) for the preseason honor.
Barton returns for his third season as Duke's starting left tackle and in 31 career games (30 starts), he has amassed 2,160 snaps. During the 2022 campaign, the Brentwood, Tenn., native was selected an honorable mention All-American by Phil Steele Publications and a first team All-ACC honoree. Barton anchored an offensive line unit that ranked first in the ACC in sacks allowed (17) and tackles for loss allowed (51).
The recipient of the program's Offensive Lineman of the Year Award, Barton started all 13 games at left tackle a year ago, helping the offense accumulate 2,394 rushing and 3,010 passing yards. Led by Barton, the offensive line created paths for four Blue Devils to rush for 400-plus yards, a first in program history.
The 6-5, 314-pound lineman held a Pro Football Focus grade of 88.2 at the conclusion of the 2022 season, which ranked fifth nationally among offensive tackles. He was the only Power 5 tackle to earn 85.0 grades as both a pass blocker and a run blocker.
