DURHAM – Freshman
James Tallon was named a Stopper of the Year Finalist on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America. Tallon is one of 10 finalists and one of three ACC players.
Tallon, a 6-foot-5 left-handed pitcher, has been the Blue Devils' closer this season, tying the single season saves record after recording his 11th save of the year against Miami to finish out the regular season. In his 22 appearances, Tallon has posted 1.69 ERA and allowed just six earned runs to score. He has tallied 56 strikeouts to just 10 walks and opponents are batting .183 off the freshman.
