She moved to 2-under by sinking a 12-foot birdie on the challenging 146-yard, par-3 15th hole, a hole where only five birdies were made during Monday's opening round. She opened the next nine with five pars, before hitting her 60-degree wedge to three feet for birdie on No. 6. Smith then registered her hole-in-one on No. 7, which turned out to be the fifth-hardest hole of the day and featured only one birdie and her eagle. She got in trouble in the bunker on the next hole and had a triple-bogey, but closed with a par to finish with a 73.

Quotes
"This is a really good golf course - they play a pro event here. We haven't competed here as a team. So, I think we handled it pretty well for day one. We're not right where we want to be, but there are two days left so I feel good about it." -- Duke head coach
Dan Brooks
"I just took it one hole at a time, one shot at a time. I really just stayed patient out there. I think on a PGA Tour level golf course, especially with the wind gusting a little bit here and there [that is important]. And then obviously a hole-in-one, which is great and a lot of luck. But a really great shot. I hit my 5-iron from 180 [yards]. I actually didn't see it go in, because the hole was past the hill, but I heard some cheering, so I figured it went in." -- Duke freshman
Andie Smith
