Li, Malixi Set for U.S. Women’s Amateur

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – A pair of Duke women's golfers – Katie Li and Rianne Malixi – are set to kick off action in the U.S. Women's Amateur, which will take place Aug. 4-9 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah. This marks the final event of the 2026 summer for the Blue Devils prior to returning to Durham.
A field of 156 golfers will open action with 36 holes of stroke-play Tuesday and Wednesday. The top 64 golfers will move on to match play, which opens Thursday. The round of 64 will take place Thursday, followed by the rounds of 32 and 16 Friday. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held Saturday and the 36-hole championship match will be Sunday.
Fans can watch the action beginning with the round of 64 of match play Thursday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., live on Golf Channel. Friday's play will air from 3 to 6 p.m., on Golf Channel. Saturday's action will air from 9 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m., on Golf Channel. Sunday's championship will air live from 3 to 6 p.m., on Golf Channel.
Two years ago, Malixi defeated Asterisk Talley, 3&2, to capture the 2024 U.S. Women's Amateur title. Malixi, a product of Manila, Philippines, turned in rounds of 68 and 67 last year in stroke-play qualifying to earn the No. 1 seed heading into match play.
Li opens play Tuesday at 7:51 a.m., off No. 1, while Malixi tees off at 1:12 p.m., off No. 10.
Duke has four golfers who have won the U.S. Women's Amateur. Virada Nirapathpongporn won in 2003 at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pa., while Amanda Blumenherst won in 2008 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore., Hannah O'Sullivan won in 2015 at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Ore., and Malixi won in 2024 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
