LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) revealed the 55 student-athletes selected to the 2023 NFCA Division I All-America teams with freshman
D'Auna Jennings earning second-team honors.
Jennings wrapped up her first year in Durham in strong fashion, setting school single-season records in batting average (.462) and hits (80) and ranks sixth nationally in both categories. The Houston, Texas, native also placed second all-time in stolen bases with 21 on the year, which sits behind graduate student
Deja Davis' mark of 24 in 2019. Jennings quickly proved her power on offense and earned her spot in the lineup, starting in centerfield in 58-of-60 games this year.
The freshman's performance on the field also earned her multiple national and all-conference accolades in NFCA All-Region First Team, D1Softball All-American Freshman Team, ACC All-Tournament team, All-ACC First Team and ACC Player of the Week (April 18).
She was named one of the top three finalists for the 2023 TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year award and was joined by classmate
Cassidy Curd as the first two Blue Devils to represent the program as top-10 finalists for the award.
Jennings is the fourth Blue Devil in program history to earn All-America recognition, joining
Jameson Kavel (2022),
Peyton St. George (2022) and Davis (2021).
