DURHAM – On Tuesday afternoon, the College Sports Communicators released its Academic All-District Baseball Teams to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Junior's
Luke Storm and
Adam Boucher, along with graduate students
MJ Metz,
Charlie Beilenson and
Alex Gow were named to the list.
The five Blue Devils advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the final teams announced on June 7.
Storm, the Easton, Pa., native, has posted a .261 average at the plate for the Blue Devils this season, appearing and starting in 49 games. He has generated 52 hits, 13 doubles, one triple and 11 home runs this season.
Boucher, the 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher, began the season in the weekend rotation, before moving into a strong relief pitcher for Duke. Boucher has appeared in 20 games this season, tallying 49 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .214 average at the plate.
Metz, a graduate transfer from Trinity University, took over the starting first base position to begin the season. In his 47 games this season, Metz has produced a .289 average at the plate and generated 44 hits. He has tallied six doubles and 12 home runs, while slugging .566 in 2023. He tallied a career high seven RBI against Davidson on April 11.
Beilenson, a graduate transfer from Brown University, has been a key relief pitcher for the Blue Devils in 2023. Appearing in 29 games for Duke, Beilenson has recorded a 3.67 ERA and a 4-3 record. He is second on the team with 41.2 innings of work and has tallied 55 strikeouts on the year.
Gow, a graduate transfer from Kenyon College, has started 12 times for the Blue Devils in 2023. He posts a 3-3 record on the mound, with a 4.80 ERA. In his 45 innings of work, Gow has tallied 46 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .219 average at the plate.
