SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The second-seeded Blue Devils are set to open play in the 2023 ACC Softball Championship on Thursday against 10th-seeded Georgia Tech at the Melissa Cook Softball Stadium in South Bend, Ind. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
No. 6 Duke closed out an impressive regular season by setting a program record in regular season wins with a 43-9 ledger. In addition, the Blue Devils posted a 19-5 mark in conference play. Duke concluded the regular season in strong fashion by sweeping Pittsburgh, 12-3 and 12-4, in the series finale doubleheader. The Blue Devils claimed their fourth ACC series sweep this year after also defeating North Carolina, Boston College and Georgia Tech in three-game sets.
Georgia Tech (26-26, 7-17 ACC) is coming off a dominating 8-1 win over seventh-seed and tournament hosts Notre Dame in the opening round of the ACC Championship on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets scored in five of seven innings to secure the victory. Emma Minghini led the offense batting 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Blake Neleman threw a complete game, giving up just one run off five hits while punching out four.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Duke leads the all-time series over Georgia Tech, 11-2, after completing a three-game sweep at Duke Softball Stadium during the regular season. The two teams also met in the 2022 ACC Tournament quarterfinals with the Blue Devils' claiming a 9-6 victory in Pittsburgh, Pa. Overall, Duke has outscored Georgia Tech 88-42 in the 13 all-time meetings.

Duke closed out the regular season in strong fashion after outscoring Pittsburgh, 24-7, in a doubleheader to complete the weekend series sweep at Vartabedian Field.
The Blue Devils defeated the Panthers, 12-3, in the opening contest before recording a 12-4 victory in the nightcap.

Gisele Tapia led the Blue Devils at the plate, finishing 5-for-9 with two home runs and 5-for-10 with a double and a home run, respectively. The pair also accounted for 13 of Duke's 22 RBI during the twin bill.
UP NEXT
The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to the semifinals on Friday at 3:30 p.m. They'll meet the winner of third-seeded Clemson and sixth-seeded North Carolina contest.
