DURHAM – An explosive sixth inning helped lift No. 10 Duke softball (37-8, 13-5 ACC) to an 8-1 victory over UNC Greensboro (26-18, 5-3 SoCon) Wednesday night at Duke Softball Stadium.

Jala Wright improves to 10-4 on the year after giving up just one run on two hits in her 6.0 innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Francesca Frelick opened the scoring in the bottom of the second after sending a base hit deep into right field to score classmate Kelly Torres and freshman Kairi Rodriguez, who each reached on a single through the right side.
- Frelick advanced to third on a throwing error by the Spartans before coming home on an RBI-single from Jennings to put the Blue Devils ahead, 2-0.
- UNCG answered in the following frame after loading the bases on two walks and a single up the middle. Wright walked the next batter to record the Spartans' lone run of the night.
- The Blue Devils' offense erupted again in the bottom of the sixth inning, using five hits to tack on five additional runs and pull away for the 8-1 victory.
NOTES
- Rodriguez finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.
- Jennings recorded the third multi-RBI game of her career.
- Vega tallied her first career triple against the Spartans.
- Duke carries a nine-game win streak into the weekend series with Georgia Tech.
