DURHAM – In a top-five clash to conclude the regular season, the third-ranked Duke women's tennis team will travel to top-ranked North Carolina on Friday, April 14 for a 3 p.m., contest at the Kone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The matchup features the top two teams in the ACC as the Blue Devils feature a 22-2 overall and 11-1 league mark, while the Tar Heels are 26-0 and 12-0 in the ACC.
The Series with North Carolina
Duke and North Carolina will meet for the 93rd time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 47-45. The Tar Heels have controlled the series as of late winning 12 out of the last 14 contests, but the Blue Devils are coming off posting a 5-2 win in Durham a season ago. Cameron Morra will return to Chapel Hill on Friday, after spending the last four seasons as a member of the North Carolina women's tennis Team. Morra was a three-time All-American in singles, two-time All-American in doubles, 2022 ITA Carolina Region Senior Player of the Year, a two-time All-ACC selection and 2019 ACC Tournament MVP.
Morra totaled an 87-33 mark in singles and 102-31 ledger in doubles over the four years with the Tar Heels. She helped lead UNC to three straight ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Over the history of Duke and North Carolina, Morra was the first student-athlete since the war era to transfer from one of the rival schools to the other.
Duke Versus No. 1 Teams
The Blue Devils own a 3-11 record against teams ranked No. 1 nationally, but are coming off a 5-2 win a season ago versus top-ranked North Carolina in Durham. In matches against top-ranked teams on the road, Duke is 1-5 all-time. Duke is 2-5 against UNC when the Tar Heels are ranked No. 1. (All records are from 1999-2000 to present).

Duke senior
Chloe Beck needs one more singles and doubles win to reach 30 for the 2022-23 campaign. She would be the 15th Blue Devil to post back-to-back 30 or more singles wins. Beck registered 34 wins last season and owns a 29-4 singles record in 2022-23.
When Beck reaches 30 singles and 30 doubles wins for the year, she will become just the fourth Blue Devil to collect 30+ singles and doubles wins in a season – Beatrice Capra (2011-12), Amanda Johnson (2000-01) and Karin Miller (1996-97).
In the ACC Standings
With the ACC regular season coming to a close this week, Duke currently features an 11-1 ACC mark, which is second in the ACC behind North Carolina (12-0). Virginia (9-2), NC State (8-3) and Miami (8-3) round out the top five teams. The top four teams in the final standings will receive a bye into the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, which will take place April 19-23 in Cary, N.C.
Beck Earns Honor
For the second time this season, senior
Chloe Beck has been tabbed ACC Player of the Week, following helping lead the Blue Devils to a pair of ranked wins against No. 7 NC State (4-3) and No. 24 Wake Forest (4-0).
Beck went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles on the week, both at the No. 1 position. In singles, Beck registered a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 18 Diana Shnaider of NC State and posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over No. 47 Casie Wooten of Wake Forest. In doubles, Beck helped the Blue Devils clinch the doubles point versus the Wolfpack with a 6-4 victory over 10th-ranked Shnaider and Alana Smith, while teaming with
Ellie Coleman.
Record 15 Wins at Home
With Duke's 4-3 win over No. 7 NC State on April 8, the Blue Devils totaled their school-record 15th home win this season. Duke features a 15-0 ledger at home in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center and Ambler Tennis Stadium.
The previous record of 14 happened in 2018-19, 2016-17, 2013-14 and 2011-12).
Impressive Doubles
Duke currently features two undefeated doubles teams heading into the regular season finale.
Georgia Drummy and
Iuliia Bryzgalova are 12-0 overall and 11-0 in the ACC, while
Karolina Berankova and
Emma Jackson are 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the ACC.
The best undefeated doubles seasons in school history have been by Vanessa Webb/Karen Goldstein (8-0 in 1997-98), Webb/Goldstein (8-0 in 1998-99) and Julie DeRoo/Amanda Johnson (8-0 in 2001-02).
The most ACC wins by a Duke doubles team in school history is 11 by Ellah Nze and Reka Zsilinszka in 2007-08, while Meible Chi and Hannah Zhao posted 10 in 2017-18. Drummy and Bryzgalova have already equaled the Blue Devil record and would break it on Friday at North Carolina.
20-Win Marks
The Blue Devils reached the 20-win mark for the 19th time in school history under head coach
Jamie Ashworth and 29th time overall in program history with their 6-1 victory Sunday against Florida State.
Duke features the most 20-win seasons in the ACC since the 1997-98 campaign, which was Ashworth's first full season as the head coach with the Blue Devils. Duke owns 19 20-win seasons to lead the league – Duke (19), North Carolina (18), Miami (10), Georgia Tech (7), Clemson (6), Virginia (5), Wake Forest (4), NC State (3) and Florida State (2).
At Boston College and Syracuse, both
Emma Jackson and
Ellie Coleman reached the 20-win singles marks on the season. The duo has posted 20 singles wins in each of their first two seasons with the Blue Devils.
Playing at Home
Duke features a 26-match home winning streak, tied for fourth-longest in school history. The Blue Devils are 15-0 at home this season. The longest streaks in school history are – 54 (2017-21), 28 (2008-10), 28 (2011-13), 26 (2002-04, 2022-23), 22 (1990-92) and 21 (2014-15).
In the ACC, Duke's 26-match winning streak ranks second as North Carolina owns a 75-match streak dating back to 2018.

Chloe Beck ranks in the top-10 in numerous categories in the Duke record book. In the career record book, she ranks eighth in ACC singles wins (34), first in consecutive ACC singles wins (23), eighth in doubles wins (103), tied for sixth in singles wins at the No. 1 position (25) and 10th in combined singles/doubles wins in a career (216).
Duke's doubles duo of Beck and
Cameron Morra already ranks eighth on Duke's most doubles wins in a season with 28. With one more victory, the tandem will move into a tie for sixth.

Duke is currently ranked third in the ITA poll, which is sponsored by Tennis-Point. It is the highest ranking of the season and the highest Duke has been listed since 2019. The Blue Devils have been listed in the top 10 of the team rankings in seven of the eight polls this spring. With the preseason top-10 ranking, the Blue Devils have been tabbed in the top 10 in seven straight years under the direction of head coach
Jamie Ashworth. In his 27th season at the helm, Ashworth has guided Duke to a total of 20 top-10 preseason rankings since 2001.

Chloe Beck became the 29th Blue Devil to reach 100 singles wins with a win at Syracuse. She also collected her 100th career doubles win as well. Beck also owns a 66-9 dual match record and has won 21 out of her last 22 matches.

Cameron Morra became the 28th Blue Devil to reach the 100-win mark at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship earlier this spring.
Doubles Play
After winning the doubles point in the first eight matches, Duke dropped the doubles point in three of the next five contests. Duke is coming off winning the doubles point in 11 straight matches. The Blue Devils have dropped the doubles point in both losses this season (Oklahoma and Virginia).
