Duke returns to Cameron Indoor Stadium, where it plays four of its next five games, Tuesday night for a match-up versus Notre Dame on ESPN's Super Tuesday.
Rece Davis and Debbie Antonelli are on the call for ESPN. David Shumate and John Roth have the broadcast for the Blue Devils Sports Network from LEARFIELD.
Duke has won eight of the last nine in the series and is 28-8 all-time versus Notre Dame.
Junior guard Jeremy Roach has scored 99 points over his last seven games (14.1) since returning from a toe injury, including 16.8 points over the last four games that saw him score 21 points in a win over Wake, 20 in a win over Carolina and 16 at No. 8 Virginia.
Freshman Kyle Filipowski, the seven-time ACC Rookie of the Week, leads all conference freshmen in rebounding and double-doubles. His 11 double-doubles are the most by any freshman nationally, while his 9.2 rebounds lead all power conference freshmen.
Freshman Tyrese Proctor is averaging 11.6 points over his last nine games after a 7.4 average over the first 16. Classmate Dariq Whitehead has scored 11.0 points over his last nine games played (missed four with an injury). He averaged 5.6 points in his first eight games played.
Duke has not lost in regulation with its full complement of scholarship players available (9-1); but is 8-7 in games where players were injured in-game or did not play due to injury or illness.
Duke has held 21 teams below their season scoring average (17-4 in those games), including nine that scored a then-season low for points versus the Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils are second in the conference in scoring defense (64.3), while Duke leads the ACC in three-point field goal defense (.302) and is fourth in field goal defense (.415).
Duke has out-rebounded 20 opponents and is 16-4 this season when holding an advantage on the glass. Duke is 13-4 when leading in offensive rebounding.
The ACC's best rebounding team, Duke ranks sixth nationally in rebound margin (+8.6), 12th in offensive rebounds (13.2) and 11th in rebounds per game (39.6) -- leading the ACC in each.
Duke leads the ACC in bench scoring (20.7) and is +147 in bench points (517-370) this season.
Duke is 12-0 at Cameron Indoor -- one of five remaining power conference teams that are unbeaten at home. By winning his first 12 home games, head coach Jon Scheyer has tied the ACC record for longest home court winning streak by a first-year head coach.
On This Date: Feb. 14
Duke is 22-13 when playing on Feb. 14 and has won five straight, nine of the last 10 and 11 of the last 13 on this date.
Duke last played on this date in 2018 -- a 74-52 win over Virginia Tech at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The Blue Devils and Fighting Irish have not yet played on this date.
About Notre Dame
Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey is a former Duke assistant coach, serving under Mike Krzyzewski from 1987 to 1995.
Brey was part of national titles in 1991 and 1992, six Final Fours, two ACC Tournament crowns and three ACC regular season titles. Duke averaged 27 wins with Brey on staff.
Brey is 6-11 all-time versus Duke (0-1 at Delaware, 6-10 at ND).
Tuesday's game is the 37th meeting in the series, with the Blue Devils leading, 28-8.
Since joining the ACC, the series favors Duke, 9-6 (7-4 in the regular season) and the Blue Devils have won eight of the last nine.
Four of the meetings have come in the ACC Tournament (2-2), with Duke winning 75-69 in the 2017 championship game and 88-70 in the 2018 quarterfinals -- both in Brooklyn.
Last season's 57-43 Duke win at Notre Dame was the lowest scoring game in the all-time series as Paolo Banchero led all scorers with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Captain Roach Setting the Tone... Last Seven Games: 14.1 Points / Last Four Games: 16.8 Points
Junior captain Jeremy Roach, Duke's only returning player that saw significant playing time from last year's Final Four run, scored a team-high 16 points in Saturday's game at No. 8 Virginia -- 12 points coming in the first half on 5-of-7 shooting.
Roach has scored 99 points over the last seven games (14.1) since turning from a toe injury, including 16.8 points over the last four games which include his first career back-to-back 20-point games in wins over Wake (21) and Carolina (20).
The junior from Leesburg, Va., is on pace for a career scoring year with his 12.6 average that is second on the team.
In the win over Carolina, Roach set the tone early -- scoring the Blue Devils' first five points of the game -- and sealed the victory by scoring Duke's final four points and eight of the team's final 10, helping Duke pull away after the game was tied at 47-47 and again at 57-57.
Filipowski Leads All Freshman Nationally in Double-Doubles
Kyle Filipowski, the seven-time ACC Rookie of the Week, leads all freshman nationally in double-doubles (11), leads all power conference freshmen in rebounds (9.2) and is sixth among power conference in scoring (14.8).
He ranks 17th in the ACC in scoring (14.8), fifth in rebounding (9.2) and third in double-doubles (11).
With 28 points and 15 boards vs. Pitt on Jan. 11, he became just the third Duke freshman all-time to have at least 28-15 in a game, joining Bagley (four times in 2017-18) and Jabari Parker (once in 2013-14).
Filipowski poured in 29 points, along with 10 rebounds at Virginia Tech.
Has scored in double-figures in 21 times this season, including in each of the first 12 games and in nine of the last 11 games.
A .758 free throw shooter (94-of-124 this season), Filipowski knocked down the game winners at Boston College in the closing seconds and is 16-of-22 (.727) this season at the line in the game's final five minutes.
Filipowski Awards Watch
Now with seven ACC Rookie of the Week honors, Filipowski is tied with former Blue Devil Marvin Bagley III for the sixth most in a season in conference history -- Â the ACC record of 10 is held by Duke's Jabari Parker (2014), UNC's Tyler Hansbrough (2006) and GT's Kenny Anderson (1990).
In ACC history, the six previous players to win seven or more Rookie of the Week awards went on to be named ACC Rookie of the Year.
He is one of just two freshman on the 20-player late-season watch list for the John R. Wooden Award, joining Alabama's Brandon Miller, and is among final 10 for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award. He is also on the mid-season lists for the Oscar Robertson and Naismith Awards.
Duke: NCAA's Top 12 for Rebounds, Offensive Rebounds and Rebound Margin; No. 2 in Offensive Rebound Percentage
Duke has been among the nation's best rebounding teams this season, ranking No. 2 nationally in offensive rebounding percentage (37.9), sixth nationally in rebound margin (+8.6), 12th in offensive rebounds per game (13.2) and 11th in total rebounds per game (39.6) -- leads the ACC in each category.
Duke and Tennessee are the only teams ranked inside the NCAA's top 12 for each rebound margin, offensive rebounds and total rebounds.
Leading the ACC in rebounding, Duke is looking to finish as the conference's leader in total rebounds per game for the first time since 1998-99.
The Blue Devils have out-rebounded 19 of their first 25 opponents, including 10 by double-digit margins. Duke opened the season with a double-digit rebound margin in each of the first six games -- the program record for longest such streak (at any point in a season). Duke had five-game streaks in 2017-18, 1998-98, 1962-63 and 1960-61.
Since the start of the 2020-21 season, Duke is 48-8 when out-rebounding its opponent (16-4 this season).
Offensive rebounding has been a significant strength, with Duke totaling 20+ on the offensive glass four times already -- the Blue Devils hadn't had more than 19 offensive boards in any game over each of the last two seasons.
Duke is +110 (325-215) in second-chance scoring this season and Duke is 11-5 in games this season when leading in second-chance scoring.
Proctor Providing Scoring Punch
Freshman guard Tyrese Proctor was originally committed to Duke's 2023 class, but made the decision to reclassify for this season in June 2022.
Coming to campus in August and missing much of the preseason after playing for Australia in the FIBA World Cup qualification, the 18-year old rookie has been among Duke's most consistent players of late.
In the absence of junior starting guard Jeremy Roach (who missed three consecutive games in January with a toe injury), Proctor stepped up to handle point guard duties.
Over the last nine games, Proctor is averaging 11.6 points (third on the team), while shooting .413 from the field, .348 from three-point range and averaging 31.3 minutes with 35 assists and 20 turnovers (1.8 assist-turnover ratio) and seven double-digit scoring games in that span.
Over the first 16 games, he averaged 26.3 minutes, 7.4 points, shooting .333 from the field, .241 from three with 36 assists and 23 turnovers (1.5 A-T ratio) and four double-digit games.
He scored 14 points at Virginia in a career-high 42 minutes, assisting on Grandison's three-pointer that tied the game to force overtime and scoring all four of Duke's points in the OT period.
Proctor scored 17 points in the win over Wake on Jan. 31 to match a career high, and scored 11 with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in a career-high 38 minutes in the UNC win.
Duke's best free throw shooter, he has hit 39-of-45 (.867) this season, including 18-of-22 (.818) in ACC play.
Proctor became Duke's first Aussie-born player to post a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four assists vs. Delaware.
Bedeviled By Injuries
Duke has played just 10 games all season -- and just two over the last 11 (win over Miami on Jan. 21; overtime loss at Virginia on Feb. 11) -- with its full complement of scholarship players available. Duke has not lost in regulation in those games (9-1), including wins over Xavier, Iowa, Ohio State and Miami.
All seven of the setbacks have come in the 15 games that Blue Devils were injured during the game or did not play due to injury or illness.
Freshman Dariq Whitehead sustained a lower leg injury at Virginia Tech on Jan. 23 and has missed four consecutive games since.
Whitehead began the season on the injured list after sustaining a foot fracture in the preseason and missing the first three games. He  was held out of the loss at Wake Forest due to illness.
Classmate Dereck Lively II was also injured in the preseason (calf) -- missing the season opener -- also being held out at Wake (illness).
Junior Jeremy Roach sustained a toe injury on Nov. 27 vs. Purdue, played through the injury for three games before missing the game vs. UMES on Dec. 10. He returned for three more  games, then re-aggravated the injury at NC State and missed the next three.
Sophomore Jaylen Blakes sustained a broken nose in practice on Jan. 17 and has played since with a custom-fitted, 3-D printed mask.
Scheyer Ties ACC Record for Longest Home Winning Streak by First-Year ACC Coach
Duke has opened the season winning its first 12 home games, as head coach Jon Scheyer has tied the ACC record for longest home court winning streak by a first-year head coach.
North Carolina's Hubert Davis also won 12 consecutive games at home in his first year in 2021-22 -- a streak that was snapped by Duke's 87-67 win on Feb. 5.
Scheyer becomes the first in program history to defeat Carolina as both a player and head coach. He is now 1-0 in the rivalry as a head coach, won three games as a player and 11 as a Duke assistant coach.
Duke is the only D-I school nationally with both men's (12-0) and women's (12-0) basketball teams unbeaten at home in 2022-23.
Duke's Three-Point Streak
Duke has connected on at least one three-pointer in 1,178 straight games, the second-longest streak nationally.
It has been more than 30 years since Duke was held without a three-point field goal -- Dec. 30, 1989, versus Hawai'i.
Cameron Indoor Stadium: NCAA Record 502-Consecutive Sellouts
Duke has sold out 502 consecutive games at Cameron Indoor Stadium -- the all-time NCAA record per Yahoo.
The last time Duke played before a non-sold out crowd at Cameron was Nov. 16, 1990 against Boston College.
The sellout figure is the longest current streak (by time) in either men's college basketball or the NBA.
Duke's record at Cameron during the sellout streak is 456-46.
