NEW YORK – Major League Soccer today announced the 44 invitees for the adidas MLS College Showcase, which will take place from December 6-9 in Phoenix, Ariz. The Blue Devils have two players that have earned invites -- senior defender
Amir Daley and junior midfielder
Ruben Mesalles.
Daley, a senior defender, started in all but one of Duke's matches in 2023, playing a career-high 1,570 minutes -- his fourth consecutive season with over 1,000 minutes played. He finished the year with six total points, after scoring one goal and tallying four assists. His first career multi-assist game came against Howard and he also added assists in back-to-back matches against College of Charleston and Syracuse at the end of September.Â
Mesalles appeared in all 18 matches for Duke, making 17 starts. The junior scored four goals and added four assists, finishing with a career-high 12 points during the 2023 season. His junior campaign marked the third straight campaign with at least 1,300 minutes played and the Sarasota, Fla., native recorded his best shot-on-goal percentage (.533) of his Duke career. Mesalles scored in three different ACC matches, including the game-winner in Duke's ACC Tournament tilt versus Boston College.Â
The four-day event will give technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas, which will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and feature an expanded eligible player pool. Please note that the list of attendees is subject to change prior to the event.
