DURHAM – Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator
Ty Blankmeyer was tabbed one of 10 of the hottest assistant coaching names in college baseball entering the 2024 season by
Baseball America.
Blankmeyer is the son of the legendary coach Ed Blankmeyer, who won over 800 games and was named the Big East Coach of the Year eight times across his 24 years as the head coach of St. John's. Ty played collegiately at St. John's and was drafted in the 36th round by the Cincinnati Reds in 2016.
The Morristown, N.J., native played one year professionally before spending over four years as the Brewers' northeast area scout. Most notably, Blankmeyer was the singing scout for current big leaguer Sal Frelick, who was drafted No. 15 overall in 2021. Blankmeyer spent one year on staff with Wake Forest, before joining the Blue Devils' in the summer of 2022.
In October, Duke landed its third consecutive top-25 recruiting class, slotting in at 21st in the country. Highlighted by four top-500 prospects, the 2024 class featured key position players and pitchers that will make an impact immediately.
