Pfaff Breaks 200 Backstroke Record, Duke Rounds Out the Final Day at NC State Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman swimmer Ali Pfaffbroke the school record in the 200 Backstroke to finish second in the championship finals heat, clocking a time of 1:53.48 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Saturday.
The record marks the third consecutive day that Duke has broken a school record at the NC State Invitational.
NOTEABLES
In the 1,650 Freestyle, Emily Gjertsenfinished in eighth place, touching in with a time of 16:40.91.
Freshman Ali Pfaffbroke the school record for the 200 Backstroke on Saturday, clocking in with a time of 1:53.48 to finish second in the event. Fellow freshman Molly Donlancollected a fourth-place finish in the event, touching in with a time of 1:55.86.
Tatum Wallgathered a seventh-place finish in the 100 Freestyle, touching in with a time of 49.50.
In the 200 Breaststroke, Kaelyn Gridleycollected another first place finish, touching in a full second ahead of the competition at 2:06.92. Teammate Catherine Belyakovfinished sixth in the event, clocking in at 2:13.26.
On the men's side, Kalen Anbardropped his 200 Breaststroke time by nearly a second, touching in at 1:58.16.
In the women's 200 Butterfly, Martina Peronishined, finishing second in the event with a time of 1:55.80. Catherine Purnellcollected a sixth-place finish on Saturday, touching in at 1:58.44.
