GOLF, Ill. – Duke women's golf graduate student
Emma McMyler turned in a 5-under-par, 67, on Tuesday as the Blue Devils shot 9-under-par as a team to close the Windy City Collegiate Classic with an impressive 54-hole score of 21-under, 843, at the 6,368-yard, par-72 Glen View Club in Golf, Ill.
As a team, the Blue Devils signed for rounds of 283, 281 and 279 for the 21-under score, which was the third-lowest Duke 54-hole score in relation to par on a par-72 course in school history. Duke placed tied for fourth overall with UCLA taking home the team title with a 32-under, 832. Rounding out the top-6 teams were Northwestern (841), Oregon (842), Duke (843), Texas (843) and Wake Forest (843).
All four of Duke's counting scores were even or under par Tuesday, while three totaled under-par rounds on the final day – McMyler (-5, 67),
Phoebe Brinker (-3, 69) and
Andie Smith (-1, 71). Freshman
Katie Li totaled the even-par, 72, score.
How It Happened
• With a final round of 5-under, 67, graduate student
Emma McMyler jumped up the leaderboard Tuesday and finished tied for fourth with an 8-under, 208. McMyler, a product of San Antonio, Texas, totaled a bogey on No. 1, but then played the next 11 holes at 7-under-par to get to 6-under for the round. She rolled in a 12-footer for birdie on No. 4 and a 20-footer on No. 5, before hitting her 3-hybrid from 244 yards on the 503-yard, par-5 sixth hole to two feet for eagle. McMyler drained another 20-foot birdie on No. 7 to get to 4-under. After notching four pars, she registered two more birdies on No. 12 and No. 13. McMyler finished the day with four pars and a bogey on No. 16 to shoot a Duke-best 67. She hit 15 greens, 10 fairways and had 29 putts on the day.

Phoebe Brinker had a flurry of a finish Tuesday to close with a 3-under, 69, and place in the top-20 for the second straight event. She posted rounds of 69, 74 and 69 for a 4-under, 212, which was tied for 20th. Brinker parred the first five holes of the final round and then bogeyed the par-5 sixth. She responded with two straight birdies on No. 7 and No. 8 to get in the red. After five more pars, she bogeyed No. 14 and then ended on fire with birdies on No. 15, No. 16 and No. 18 to finish with a 69. She hit a pitch from 75 yards on 15 to six feet, stuck her approach on 16 to four feet from 115 yards and rolled in a 5-footer for birdie on 18.
• Sophomore Andi Smith turned in her best 54-hole scoring week of her short career as she signed for rounds of 68, 72 and 71 for a 5-under, 211, which tied for 14th. On the final day, Smith had a slow start with bogeys on No. 1 and No. 2. She regrouped and totaled birdies on No. 4, No. 6 and No. 8 to make the turn with a 1-under, 35. Smith, who is from Hobe Sound, Fla., ripped a 9-iron to one foot for birdie on No. 4, had a great bunker shot to three feet on No. 6 and chipped to three feet on No. 8 for birdie. She finished the day at even-par on the back nine with a pair of birdies on No. 10 and No. 15. Smith was 3-under over her final 16 holes of the day. She hit 10 fairways, 14 greens and rolled 31 putts.
• With an even-par, 72, in the final round, freshman
Katie Li closed her second tournament as a Blue Devil with back-to-back even or under par rounds for the first time in her career. She opened the day with six straight pars and then suffered her lone bogey of the morning. Li, who hails from Basking Ridge, N.J., then got up-and-down for birdie on No. 8. After a double-bogey on No. 12, Li stuck her approach from 80 yards to five feet on No. 13 and then on No. 17, from 82 yards in a divot, she placed it to six feet for birdie

Anne Chen closed her week with a 1-over, 73, on her way to finishing tied for 46th with a 1-over, 217. After opening her day with back-to-back bogeys, Chen reeled off three birdies on No. 4, No. 6 and No. 8. She sank an 8-footer on No. 4, hit her 60-degree wedge from 67 yards on No. 6 to two feet and sank a 9-foot birdie on No. 8. After a bogey on No. 11, Chen hit her 60-degree again, but from 74 yards, to five feet for birdie. Chen finished the round with four pars and two bogeys. She hit 11 fairways and 14 greens.
• Playing as an individual,
Rylie Heflin closed the event with a 2-over, 74. After opening her round on No. 10 and No. 11 with two pars, she bogeyed No. 12 and No. 14. Heflin closed the day at even-par, playing the final 13 holes with 11 pars, one birdie and one bogey. Her lone birdie of the day came on No. 8 as she hit her 58-degree wedge from 85 yards to 12 feet. Heflin hit 14 greens on the day along with 11 fairways.

Emma McMyler signed for back-to-back rounds in the 60s (69 and 67) to close the tournament. She now owns 10 career rounds in the 60s as a collegiate golfer.
• McMyler has registered 43 career rounds of even or under par. In six rounds played as a Blue Devil, she has notched five at even or under par.

Andie Smith's 54-hole score of 211 was a career-low by five shots. She carded 11 birdies.
• Smith hit only eight greens over the 54 holes this week.

Katie Li closed strong with back-to-back rounds of even or under par with a 70 and 72. She had six birdies, only two bogeys and one double-bogey over her final 36 holes.
• Li registered 40 pars, which ranked tied for eighth overall.

Phoebe Brinker posted her 14th career round in the 60s and 39th round of even or under par as a Blue Devil. She also collected her 16th career top-20 finish.
• Brinker hit 10 fairways, 15 greens and rolled 29 putts in the final round.
• Duke's 9-under, 279, was the lowest 18-hole score since the Blue Devils shot 274 and 277 at the Valspar Augusta Invitational in 2021. It was the lowest final round score by Duke since Sept. 12, 2017 at the Jim West Challenge when the Blue Devils shot 277 (Par 71) to win.
• As a team, Duke carded 55 birdies over the 54 holes, which ranked tied for third.
• Northwestern's Lauryn Nguyen won the individual title with an 11-under, 205.
