DURHAM – Duke men's soccer midfielder
Nick Pariano has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week following his three goals last week, including a brace against No. 7 Syracuse, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The senior played all 180 available minutes in Duke's two games last week, as the Blue Devils picked up a 3-2 win against the College of Charleston and a 5-3 victory over the seventh-ranked Orange. A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Pariano converted from the spot against College of Charleston and then logged the first brace of his career in Duke's win against Syracuse, a multi-goal effort that included a second-half free kick that eventually proved to be the game-winning goal. Pariano now has four goals in 2023 to go along with four assists, good for a total 12 points. The Preseason All-ACC pick has the second-most points for the Blue Devils and is tied for sixth-most in the league.
Pariano earns the first ACC Player of the Week recognition of his career and is the third Blue Devil to do so this season, joining teammates
Julian Eyestone (Sept. 12) and
Forster Ajago (Aug. 29).
Pariano also earned national recognition for his play, being named to the National Team of the Week by College Soccer News, joining his teammate
Ulfur Bjornsson as Blue Devils to earn a spot on a National Team of the Week from College Soccer News.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday night, traveling to play Notre Dame at 7 p.m. at Alumni Soccer Stadium. The Fighting Irish currently sit atop the ACC Coastal Division with 10 points, while the Blue Devils are tied with Virginia and North Carolina in third place with six points.
