DALLAS, Texas – The Duke women's golf team tried to make a run on Tuesday after a hot start, but cooled down late to conclude action at the Jackson T. Stephen's Cup at the 6,466-yard, par-72 Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
The Blue Devils closed the second round Tuesday morning with an even-par, 288, and then shot a 1-over, 289, to finish the event in seventh place with an 866. Duke opened the third and final round with a 9-under-par ledger to move into sixth, but struggled on the way in to conclude the day.
How It Happened – Round Two
• Duke closed round two on Tuesday morning with an even-par, 288, and entered the third round in seventh place behind Texas (560), Stanford (563), South Carolina (564), Wake Forest (564), Texas A&M (566) and Arkansas (572). The Blue Devils totaled rounds of 289 and 288 for a 577.
• Sophomore
Andie Smith played her final five holes at 2-under-par to finish with a 1-under, 71. She posted four birdies on the day and was tied for 15th, individually, heading into the final round with a 1-under, 143.
• Senior
Phoebe Brinker closed her second round with a birdie on No. 6 and played her final five holes at 1-under-par. She signed for a 1-under, 71, and was also tied for 15th with a 143.
• When the second round was called last night due to darkness, graduate student
Emma McMyler was 3-under, but she came back on Tuesday morning and was 4-over to finish her round. She turned in her second straight round of 73 and is tied for 26th with a 146.
• Freshman
Katie Li snapped a three-round stretch of shooting even or under par as she collected a 2-over, 74, on Tuesday. She rolled in three birdies in the round on No. 2, No. 3 and No. 14.
• Senior
Anne Chen improved two shots from her round one score of 75 and signed for a 1-over, 73, in the second round. She is tied for 33rd with a 148.
How It Happened – Round Three

Anne Chen turned in the best round of the afternoon with a 3-under, 69. After parring the first four holes, Chen pitched from 37 yards to four feet on No. 5 for birdie and then hit her 7-iron from 153 yards on No. 8 to nine feet for birdie. She made the turn at 2-under, 34, and then rolled in a 13-footer for birdie on No. 10 to get to 3-under. Chen moved to 4-under with a 9-foot birdie on No. 14, but then had a double-bogey on No. 15 to drop back to 2-under. She closed the day with two pars and a birdie on No. 17 to finish with a 69.
• With five birdies,
Emma McMyler posted an even-par, 72, in the final round. After parring the first three holes, she had a bogey on No. 4. McMyler then rolled in a 12-footer for birdie on No. 6 and 11-footer for birdie on No. 8 to move to 1-under. She continued her hot play on the back nine by birding back-to-back holes on No. 10 and No. 11 to get to 3-under. After two pars and two bogeys, she birdied No. 16 to get back to 2-under. McMyler closed with a double-bogey to finish with a 72.

Katie Li had Duke's best start to the final round as she rolled in a 20-footer for birdie on No. 1 and then two-putted for birdie on the par-5 second hole. She moved to 3-under with an up-and-down birdie from 15 yards on No. 5. After a bogey on No. 6 and par on No. 7, Li drained a 15-foot birdie on No. 8 to make the turn at 3-under. She moved to 4-under with a birdie on No. 10. Li struggled on the way in, finishing the back nine at 5-over, 41, to sign for a 74.

Phoebe Brinker collected four birdies on the front nine and made the turn at 1-under, 35. She birdied three out of a span of four holes on the front – No. 6, No. 8 and No. 9. Brinker couldn't hold on to finish the day as she was 4-over on the final nine to shoot a 75.

Andie Smith parred the first eight holes, but then doubled No. 9. She registered her first birdie on No. 10 and then played her final eight holes at 1-over-par to finish with a 74.

Andie Smith's second round of 1-under, 71, marked her fifth straight round of even or under par.
• Duke registered 15 birdies in round one, 17 in round two and 21 in the third round.
• The Blue Devils shot only 6-under-par on the par-5 holes in rounds one and two, which was tied for last. Duke closed the third round shooting 7-under on par-5 holes.

Phoebe Brinker's nine birdies through 36 holes ranked tied for fourth overall.

Anne Chen totaled a season-best 3-under, 69, to close the event. It marked her eighth career round in the 60s and 28th career round of even or under par.
• In the first two tournaments combined, Duke had 10 double-bogeys or worse. In the Stephen's Cup, the Blue Devils had nine.
• Texas and Wake Forest tied for first with a 23-under, 841, and moved on to the championship match on Wednesday. Stanford (846) and South Carolina (855) were third and fourth, respectively, and will play in the third-place match.
