CROMVOIRT, Netherlands – The Duke women's golf tandem of Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire helped lead the European squad to a 15-13 victory over the United States at the Solheim Cup held at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt over the weekend.
The two teams began the day in a tie at 8-8, but a hot start by the Europeans saw Team Europe win six of the first eight singles matches to defeat the U.S. Team.
A Blue Devil golfer has led her Solheim Cup team to wins in six out of the last seven events – Maguire and Boutier (2026, 2023 and 2021), Boutier (2019) and Brittany Lang (2017 and 2015).
Maguire, a 2013 Duke graduate, continued her outstanding play at the Solheim Cup with a 2-1-0 record over the week and now has a 10-4-1 mark in her career.
In her Solheim Cup debut, Lindy Duncan turned in a 2-1-0 record for the United States, including an impressive 3&1 victory over Maja Stark Sunday in singles action. Lang, a two-time Duke All-American, served as a vice captain for the U.S.
Duke golfers have been a fixture in the Solheim Cup over the years as the Blue Devils have featured at least one golfer in the Solheim Cup in each of the past 10 competitions.
The Blue Devils were also represented on the television side as 2010 Duke graduate Alison Whitaker was on the call for Golf Channel and other networks.
