DURHAM – Duke women's basketball senior
Celeste Taylor earned her second Duke PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week honor, following strong performances in two Duke wins this past week. Taylor also received the weekly honors back on December 12.
Taylor averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks to help lead the Blue Devils to wins over Clemson (66-56) and at Georgia Tech (65-47) and push Duke's unblemished ACC record to 6-0. With 19 points against the Tigers and 13 against the Yellow Jackets, Taylor has now scored double figures in five straight contests and 13 times overall (through 17 games) this season.
In the team's most recent win at Georgia Tech on Sunday, Taylor scored nine of her 13 in the third quarter to help Duke grab control of the game and turn the momentum in its favor. She also filled up the stat sheet, finishing with five rebounds, four assists, five steals and a block.
The 13th-ranked Blue Devils cap their brief two-game road trip this week with a midweek tilt against in-state rival and 17th-ranked North Carolina on Thursday, Jan. 19 at Carmichael Arena. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m., live on the ACC Network.
PNC Achievers is a student honors platform that is active at nearly 20 schools and universities across PNC Bank's service area. Honorees are selected locally by designated panels at each respective school, using a set of criteria that includes athletic accomplishments, academic achievement, community service and student leadership.
