DURHAM – The Duke softball team won its second fall exhibition game in as many tries, beating Appalachian State, 8-1, Sunday at Duke Softball Stadium. Duke pitching fanned 14 Mountaineers in the 10-inning game and the Blue Devils racked up 16 hits.
GAME NOTES
- Of Duke's 16 hits, senior Gisele Tapia and freshman D'Auna Jennings were each 2-for-2. Jennings also walked stole a base and scored.
- Sophomore Ana Gold hit a home run to aid the winning effort.
- Four pitchers saw action for the Blue Devils, with junior Claire Davidson, junior Jala Wright, freshman Sophie Garner-MacKinnon and junior Lillie Walker combining to limit App State to one run with 14 strikeouts.
- Duke is now 2-0 with fall victories over North Carolina (5-2) and App State.
