GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a strong offensive effort to help No. 7 Duke defeat No. 10 Louisville by a score of 2-1 last Saturday, M/F
Shakur Mohammed has been named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the sophomore's first ACC Player of the Week award of his career and is the first Blue Devils player to earn the recognition since
Thorleifur Ulfarsson was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5, 2021.
The Kumasi, Ghana native logged 82 minutes against Louisville and was involved with both Duke goals in the second half. His second assist of the season helped level the score at one apiece in the 54th minute and he sent his third goal of the season into the back of the net in the 82nd minute. The sophomore has already matched his goal total from the 2021 season and has two game-winners on the year. His eight points so far this season leads the team.
Mohammed was also recognized for his play by being named the
PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week along with making both TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News' National Team of the Week. He shares the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors with Wake Forest's Roald Mitchell.
Duke is back in action on Friday evening when they host North Carolina at Koskinen Stadium for the Blue Devils' ACC home-opener. First touch is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
