DURHAM – The Duke men's golf team has released its schedule for the 2022-23 campaign. The Blue Devils' season will begin at the Duke Golf Club with the 2022 Rod Myers Invitational, and also includes trips to Washington, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
The annual Rod Myers Invitational will return to its normal season-opening spot on the schedule for the first time since the 2019-20 season, and will be played on Sept. 9 and 10. The Blue Devils then travel west to Seattle, Wash. for their only other event of the first month, the Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain GC on Sept. 19 and 20.
The Rod Myers Invitational will have a 14-team field consisting of Duke, Alabama, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, Liberty, Loyola (Md.), Missouri, North Florida, Penn State, Princeton, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, and Virginia Tech. A practice round will be played on Thursday, Sept. 8, followed by 36 holes on Friday and the final round on Saturday.
Duke will round out its fall schedule with three tournaments in October. The Georgetown Intercollegiate at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. on Oct. 10 and 11 will be followed by the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, played Oct. 21-23 at the Golf Club of Georgia. Duke will then wrap up the first half of its schedule, traveling to Paradise Island for the White Sands Bahamas Invitational. The event will be played at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Oct. 28-30.
The Blue Devils will keep up the island theme for their first tournament after the winter break, playing in the Dorado Beach Collegiate, Feb. 26-28 in Dorado, Puerto Rico, before returning to their home state for the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst No. 2, March 6-7. The General Hackler Championship will be played the following week, March 13-14, at the Dunes Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., followed by the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on March 27-28 at the Floridian Golf Club.
Duke will then participate the Stitch Intercollegiate, played at NC State's Lonnie Poole Golf Course April 7 and 8, as the Blue Devils seek to defend their 2022 championship. The Blue Devils swept the titles last April, with then-senior Quinn Riley finishing as the individual medalist at 4-under and the team scoring a 3-under 861. Duke was the only team to finish in red numbers and had four individuals finish in the top-10.
Postseason play will start with the ACC Championship, played April 21-24 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C., followed by NCAA Regionals which will be hosted at six sites -- Auburn, Clemson, Michigan State, Oklahoma, San Jose State and UNLV -- May 15-17. The NCAA Championship will be played at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 26-31.
