DURHAM – This past weekend, the Duke football program welcomed back over 50 former lettermen for a two-day event on campus.

Former players spanning seven decades returned to Durham to participate in educational programming about the current landscape of the program under first-year head coach Mike Elko.

Elko addressed his short and long-term goals for the program, the updated technology used in the weight room and the new gameday tailgating experience which will debut this fall.

In addition, details regarding the Future Initiative, a project spearheaded by former Blue Devil and All-ACC safety Terrell Smith. The initiative provides resources to better prepare the Duke football student-athletes for their post-graduation journey by enriching the necessary skills for success during their time at Duke and beyond. It also focuses on connecting members with former student-athletes across multiple decades to re-establish and reinforce engagement with Duke football and leverage their experience as a professional development resource for current student-athletes.

Offensive coordinator Kevin Johns, defensive coordinator Robb Smith, director of football sports performance David Feeley and vice president and director of athletics Nina Kingalso met with the group.

The event concluded with the team's scrimmage on Sunday evening.
