Duke Announces 2022 Fall Ball Schedule

DURHAM – With one month until the start of fall ball, Duke softball has announced its 2022 slate of games during this fall. The schedule features eight exhibitions and ends with the Fall World Series in late October.
"We are excited to hit the ground running with Team 6 this fall," said head coach Marissa Young. "We have put together another challenging fall schedule to expose our freshman to what is expected in the spring, to make another strong postseason run. Every year our program has elevated their success to take the next step in the NCAA tournament and I feel it starts with setting the tone in the fall. I am excited to take the field with a new staff, impactful newcomers, and a very strong roster of hungry returners."
The Blue Devils open this fall with a match up against rival North Carolina on Sep. 16 at 6:30 p.m. The two sides did not meet during the 2022 regular season and will faceoff for the first time in nearly 16 months.
Duke will open the home slate with matchups against Appalachian State on Sep. 25 and Charlotte on Oct. 1. The Blue Devils have never faced the Mountaineers in the regular season or fall in program history. Against Charlotte, the Blue Devils won a 10-1 fall ball game last year and a 9-1 regular season win on Mar. 9.
After a trip to East Carolina on Oct. 2, the Blue Devils will leave the state for two games at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, home of Tennessee. The Blue Devils will face Lakeland and the host Lady Volunteers on Oct. 8 and 9.
The exhibition slate ends at Duke Softball Stadium, with games against Elon on Oct. 13 and UNC Greensboro on Oct. 22. Following the final two games, the Blue Devils will compete in the annual World Series, with three intrasquad games from Oct. 27-29.
