COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 12 Duke men's soccer kicked off the 2022 exhibition slate with a 1-1 draw at South Carolina on Saturday night at Stone Stadium.

The Blue Devils were quick to open the season with a bang as the first to find the back of the net. Just nine minutes into the game, senior
Scotty Taylor picked up the first tally of the season to give Duke a 1-0 lead. The Millburn, N.J., native recorded two goals last season.

South Carolina was able to respond just before the halftime whistle, when the Gamecocks' Adam Luckhurst tallied an unassisted goal in the 40th minute to tie up the score.

Both teams battled throughout the second half but were unable to secure a game winner, with the game ending in a draw.

Several newcomers made their first starts as a Blue Devil in the draw. Freshmen
Kamran Acito,
Axel Gudbjornsson and
Kenan Hot earned their first place in the starting 11 in the blue and white on Saturday.

The Blue Devils are back in action on Tuesday night, hosting High Point for the second of three exhibitions at 7 p.m. Admission to the two remaining exhibitions in Koskinen Stadium against High Point and Longwood are free to the public.
