Twelve Blue Devils Tabbed as NFCA Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced its annual Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2021-22 academic year, with the Blue Devils earning 12 selections.
Recent graduate Jameson Kavel became the first four-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete in program history, leading a group of several returning and new honorees.
Graduating senior Caroline Jacobsen was tabbed to the list for a third time, while Claire Davidson, Deja Davis, Francesca Frelick, Kyla Morris and Lillie Walker each took home their second awards. Honored for the first time were Kristina Foreman, Leah Jarnac, Taylor Krapf and Kelsey Zampa. Jala Wright was tabbed to the list for a second time, but for the first time as a Blue Devil.
The Blue Devils were also honored with the team award, after finishing the academic year with a 3.47 GPA, good for the highest mark in the ACC.
Under head coach Marissa Young, Duke softball featured 12 of 7,527 collegiate student-athletes nationwide to be tabbed an NFCA Scholar-Athlete this season. A total of 22 players have been honored with the award over the five-year history of the program, with 35 honors in total.
To qualify for the award, a student-athlete needs a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for the 2021-22 academic year.
