USA Field Hockey Announces Nexus Championship Rosters

DURHAM β USA Field Hockey has formally announced the rosters for the upcoming 2022 Senior Nexus Championship, presented by Osaka Hockey, and nine current Blue Devils will be spread out across six different teams for the upcoming tournament.
In addition to the nine student-athletes, Duke associate head coach Ralph Boersma will serve as the coach for the London squad for the week. The games get underway July 18 and conclude July 22 at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
Suiting up for the weeklong event are Alayna Burns, Barb Civitella, Grace Norair, Shelby Bumgarner, Paige Bitting, Josephine Palde, Hannah Miller, Macy Szukics and Josie Varney. Former Blue Devil Leah Crouse also will be competing.
There are eight teams divided into Pool A and Pool B. Each squad will have round robin action in its pool before matching up by record with a Pool B opponent in the placement contests.
Formerly known as the Young Women's National Championship, the Senior NXC is held annually and features 144 elite high school, collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. During the spring and early summer, athletes trialed and trained at one of the seven USA Field Hockey High Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to be selected to the Senior NXC, a step along the Olympic Development
Pathway program. All athletes that were previously on the Rise, U-21, Development and Senior U.S. Women's National Team were also included within the selection. Β Β
