DURHAM – Softball graduate student
Peyton St. George has been named Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following her strong pitching over the course of a 4-0 week for Duke softball.
St. George went 1-0 with a 0.88 ERA (8.0 IP), allowing only two hits and striking out 10 batters. The Mechanicsville, Va., native also threw one complete game and tallied a save, holding opposing batters to a .077 batting average against to lead the Blue Devils in the circle.
With her win over Pittsburgh on May 5, St. George tallied her 20th win of the season, setting a new single season program record. St. George is now 20-3 with a 1.64 ERA (128.1 IP), striking out 169 batters and holding opposing hitters to a .175 batting average against.
St. George and the Blue Devils will be back in action on Thursday, opening their ACC title defense in the 2022 ACC Championship quarterfinal, against either seventh-seeded Georgia Tech or 10th-seeded NC State. The game will take place in Pittsburgh, Pa., at 5 p.m., on ACC Network.
