Blackwell Joins Eagles as Undrafted Free Agent

DURHAM – Former Duke cornerback Josh Blackwell has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles to join the NFL organization as an undrafted free agent.

Blackwell saw action in 37 career games (28 starts) and posted 96 tackles, two tackle for loss, one caused fumble and 20 pass breakups, along with 25 punt returns for 230 yards (9.20). In 2,235 career snaps, he owned two-plus tackles in 26 games, including a career-high six stops against Wake Forest in 2019. Blackwell set the Duke bowl game record for pass breakups with four against Temple in the 2018 Walk-On's Independence Bowl.

During his final campaign, Blackwell saw action in all 12 games, making 11 starts. He tied for a team high with seven pass breakups and added 35 tackles and one tackle for loss. In 689 season snaps, he posted three-plus tackles in eight games, including a season-high five tackles in contests with Kansas and Miami. The Buford, Ga., native also returned seven punts for 54 yards (7.71).
